The Chairman Kim Jong Il's devotion to the building of the E-library of Kim Il Sung University

The e-library of Kim Il Sung University is a center of education, science and information technology, which was built into the comprehensive and up-to-date library under the warm care of the Chairman Kim Jong Il. It is a five-storied building with a total area of 12 000 m² and a total floor space of 15 877m².

When he visited the newly-built indoor swimming pool of Kim Il Sung University on the 19^th of March, 2009, he saw to it that a first-class e-library is built on the site of the original building of the university with paternal affection.

After proposing the idea of building the e-library, the Chairman Kim Jong Il acquainted himself with the process of building day and night and gave instructions on many occasions, solving all the problems and sending 69 779 pieces of cutting-edge electronic equipment of 106 kinds.

He sent a priceless and meaningful autograph to be carved on the front wall of the e-library hall and the painting to be hung that shows the President Kim Il Sung and Anti-Japanese Heroine Kim Jong Suk taking part in inaugural ceremony of the original building of Kim Il Sung university, thus making the unanimous desire of the teachers and students come true.

As soon as he heard the news that e-library was completed on the 12^th of April, 2010, he visited our university on the occasion of the Day of the Sun and gave on-the-spot guidance to the newly-built e-library, education and science exhibition house, and indoor swimming pool for a long time.

He told the officials concerned that he was quite pleased to see the magnificent e-library blending well with other buildings of the university.

While he was going through the access corridor which connects the e-library and science library, he looked out at the campus of the university through the corridor window, recollecting his old university days with deep emotion. There were the places where he had talks with fellow students and took memorable photos, and also had the meetings of the Democratic Youth League (the predecessor of Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League).

That day, he looked around all the reading rooms, computer education rooms, academic exchange rooms, and on-line lecture rooms, seminar rooms on the third floor, and an auditorium on the fifth floor.

He gave valuable instructions about managing the e-library well and educating students to be competent talents for revolution.

When he was in the central hall of the second floor, the university officials earnestly requested him to have a memorable photo taken there. That year was the 50^th anniversary of his starting revolutionary activities at Kim Il Sung University and also the year in which he had a memorable photo taken in uniform on the 1^st of September, 50 years ago.

At their sincere request, he agreed to have a photo taken in front of the autograph board, saying that that's why he would do so even though he did not like taking a photo of himself, because they said it was the wish of people and history.

All these facts prove that the e-library of Kim Il Sung University is a monumental building of the Songun era which was built under the wise leadership of the Chairman Kim Jong Il with his deep affection to the young students.
