The 80th Founding Anniversary of Kim Il Sung University Celebrated with Splendour

With the flames of educational revolution kindled in hearty response to the task put forth at the keynote speech given by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un at the 15th National Conference of Teachers, significant events were held at Kim Il Sung University to celebrate the 80th founding anniversary of Kim Il Sung University splendidly, including the national program contest of students, the national science symposium in different sectors, the national seminar of universities on sharing experience in teaching practices and the national exhibition of inventions and ideas by students.

The national program contest of students went on at the e-library of Kim Il Sung University between September 16th and 17th.

The contest aimed at spurring the training of talented personnel who will shoulder the development of cutting-edge technology such as Al technology in the near future, drawing hundreds of students selected from more than 80 universities across the country.

It was overflowing with the strong aspiration of the talents of new generation to share achievements and experience in training the talents of cutting-edge technology, set a higher goal and add glory to their country by means of science and technology.

Students from Kim Il Sung University took the first place by solving all the problems perfectly.

The national science symposium in different sectors and the national seminar of universities on sharing experience in teaching practices were held at Kim Il Sung University between September 21st and 23rd.

Present there were officials, lecturers and researchers from 80 scientific and educational institutions, including the State Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Social Sciences and Kim Chaek University of Technology.

At the national science symposium in different sectors which was held with the theme "The Period of Overall Development of Socialism and the Role of Science and Education" were presented 2 000 treatises in the sectors of social and natural sciences that explained in a wide and theoretical way about the immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who elucidated the way to be followed by Juche-oriented education and the theoretical and practical problems arising in publicizing the WPK's lines and policies of turning the DPRK into a talent and education power at an earliest date and that contributed to the economic development and the improvement of people's livelihood.

The national seminar of universities on sharing experience in teaching practices took place with the aim to make the education content practical, comprehensive and up-to-the-minute at a high level and actively introduce research-type teaching and studying methods into the subjects related to major studies at universities so as to improve the capabilities of students.

Citations were awarded to highly appreciated organizations and participants there.

The national exhibition of inventions and ideas by students was held at the e-library of Kim Il Sung University between September 21st and 24th with the theme "Stabilization, Qualitative Development by Gradual Degrees and Sci-tech".

The exhibition intended all students to make a tangible contribution to the realization of targets on indices of the five-year plans for national economic development by carrying out the scientific research briskly to come up with new and valuable inventions a lot, supporting the intention of the Party to lead and haul the socialist construction energetically by dint of sci-tech development.

On display were 840 items from 50 units, such as Kim Il Sung University, Pyongyang College of Transport, Wonsan College of Agriculture, Hamhung College of Education and Phyongsong College of Medicines. Highly appreciated units and participants, including Kim Il Sung University, were awarded citations.

A national meeting took place at the indoor stadium of Kim Il Sung University on September 30th with the title "Let us fulfil the mission and duty as the ‘pedigree' establishment for training the hard core and the university of revolution in the van of educational revolution of the new era".

The platform was taken by Premier Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Ju Chang Il and Kim Sung Du, secretaries of the Central Committee of the WPK, senior officials from the Party and government, officials, exemplary lecturers and researchers from Kim Il Sung University and other merited graduates.

It was attended by the staff, students and graduates from Kim Il Sung University, senior officials from national-level universities in Pyongyang and units concerned, officials and working people who sincerely supported the university.

Present there were also foreigners who took part in the international symposium to mark the 80th founding anniversary of Kim Il Sung University, overseas compatriots, resident diplomatic envoys and foreign students at the university.

The national anthem of the DPRK was solemnly played and Kim Sung Chan, president of Kim Il Sung University, delivered a report.

He notified that the university with the great name of President Kim Il Sung and brilliant exploits and academic successes for the country and revolution saw its 80th birthday, which was the great auspicious day of the nation. Mentioning the proud course of the university that began with the far-sightedness of the outstanding leader and confidence in self-reliance and made its vigorous advance for 80 years, he ardently appealed to everyone to support the Party's ideology and leadership with single-hearted loyalty and bring about a new upsurge in the training of talents and scientific research so as to usher in the bright future of socialist Korea at an early date.

The national meeting served as a significant occasion to redouble the faith and will of all officials, staff and students of the university to be loyal to the important mission and duty as the "pedigree" establishment for training the hard core in the van of educational revolution of the new era, true to the great WPK's idea of attaching importance to education.
