Joint meeting held with a large attendance at Kim Il Sung University on National Day of Disabled Persons in 2015

A joint meeting was held at Kim Il Sung University on June 18th, 2015 on National Day of Disabled Persons.

Present there were Public Health Minister Kang Ha Guk, chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Federation for Protection of the Disabled, officials concerned, disabled persons and their families, Pyongyangites, Kim Il Sung University staff and students, members of missions of international bodies such as the European Union Programme Support, foreign diplomatic envoys and staff members of their embassies here and overseas Koreans staying in the homeland.

First, there were sports and amusement events.

Taekwon-Do game by deaf persons, making a round of a hurdle on a wheelchair and with eyes blindfolded, disabled children's picking of toys and other events, where the disable persons, foreigners and oversea Koreans participated, enlivened the events.

Then followed a performance staged by an art group of disabled persons and Kim Il Sung University students.

It started off with mixed vocal ensemble 'A Song in Praise of the Motherland'. Put on the stage were piano solo 'Voice of My Heart' (Cha Kwang Guk, visually impaired), dance trio (3 persons with hearing disability), accordion quintet 'Rainbow of Reunification'(3 persons, visually impaired), mixed vocal ensemble 'I'll Go To Mt. Paektu' (9 persons with visual, hearing and intellectual disability) and 'Burning Desire', accordion solo 'Ballad of the Eight Scenic Spots of Korea'(Kang Un Hyok, visually impaired), mixed duo 'Want to See You, Want to Be In Your Arms' (2 persons with physical disability), song and dance 'Happy Tomorrow', kayagum solo 'Pyongyang Nalpharam' (Kim Myong Suk, Merited Artiste, visually impaired), circus 'Ring Spin', dance 'Snowwhite and the Seven Dwarfs' (10 persons with hearing disability), chorus 'We Are the Happiest in the World' and other diverse numbers.

High artistic skill, rich depicting skill and well-knitted ensemble of the disabled persons gave great impressions to the participants.

The songs and dances of the disabled persons, reflecting their hopes and full optimism for the future despite various physical disabilities, were truly an expression of praise and gratitude for our Party and socialist motherland, who take warm care of their life. They were also an expression of their ardent wish and aspiration to demonstrate the spirit and mettle of Kim Il Sung's nation and Kim Jong Il's Korea all over the world.

Unable to suppress tears coming to their eyes in heartfelt thanks to the respected Marshal Kim Jong Un and socialist motherland, who give free scope to their hopes and talents and take meticulous care of them just as their mothers would do for sick children lest there should be a shadow on their faces, the participants as well as the disabled persons and their families showed deep sympathy with a storm of applause.

The performance showed that although there may be physically disabled persons, there cannot be mentally disabled persons on this land where the great Juche idea is embodied and the love for the masses of the people is in full bloom. They demonstrated their firm faith and will that anyone who makes an effort in this community under the warm love and care of our Party can realize their beautiful dream and can serve for the Party and the leader, motherland and the people.

The joint meeting was another significant occasion in which the vitality and the greatness of the policy of our socialist society for the protection of disabled persons and their gratitude towards the socialist society which takes responsibility for their destiny and glorifies it were demonstrated to the whole world.

Prior to the meeting, the participants looked round the photos showing successes made in the DPRK for the protection of the disabled persons.

A tea-party was held at the end of the joint meeting.
