General Kim Jong Il's People-bound Train March

 2020.9.15.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"The rails criss-crossing the whole country are associated with the exploits of the revolutionary leadership of the great Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, who followed far and rough roads for the country and people on people-bound train all their lives."

General Kim Jong Il was on the people-bound train all his life for his country and fellow people. The political history of humanity does not record any head of state who had done so for the welfare of his fellow people.

General Kiim Jong Il devoted his whole life for his country and fellow people on the long road of arduous march on the people-bound train, and spent the last moment of his great life on that train.

His people-bound train march started in his early days.

Immediately after the country's liberation President Kim Il Sung walked along the rural roads beaten by scorched sunshine and visited factories and other industrial establishments roaring with machine sounds, intentionally with young Kim Jong Il, in order to have him experience the excessive heat labour of the smelters in front of a furnace and go through a dangerous road in the days of the grim war.

The long march between late June and mid-July Juche43(1954) which the General spent while accompanying President Kim Il Sung on the latter's on-site guidance at the cities, fishermen's villages, factories and agricultural cooperatives in North and South Hamgyong provinces was of great significance in the formation of his revolutionary outlook on the world and in his experience of life.

The long march was literally "1 000-ri Journy for Learning" for the General who was twelve years old at that time.

Later he recalled with deep emotions: While accompanying President Kim Il Sung for half a month in the summer of Juche43(1954), I learned a greater knowledge than that I would learn during a whole course of university and underwent revolutionary training and life experience one would never imagine in a classroom or at a desk.

All the roads followed by President Kim Il Sung for his continuous on-site guidance to bring about historic events and construction miracles bear the imprints of the revolutionary lessons attended by the General.

While accompanying the President on his people-bound train march, the General learned the spirit of devoted service for the people and the greatness of the on-site guidance of the President, who formulated lines and policies in accordance with the aspirations and demands of the masses and brought about gigantic creations and transformations in his country.

This people-bound train march became a revolutionary leadership mode unique to

General Kim Jong Il. While visiting various parts of the country on the people-bound train, racing against time, the General listened to the people's opinions and, by reflecting their opinions, administered the first ever politics of prioritizing, respecting and loving the people.

His on-site guidance was not simply a course of visiting places but a course of sharing emotions with the people.

To want to see the people, to listen to their opinions, to share his dreams with them, to share life and death with them while living with them in the same time space–this was the source of strength with which General Kim Jong Il conducted his on-site guidance, and this incorporated his humane nature, his love for the people.

He conducted super-intense forced march, dog days forced march, 24-hour forced march and guerilla-style-forced march on train; for him, the train was his office room and living room.

The mountain valleys in Jagang Province, the road along the cliffs on Mt Osong, the snow-covered long paths on Chol Pass and various other places bear the imprints of the on-site guidance by the General who followed the road of devotion for his country and fellow people, sometimes taking a catnap and rice balls on the road.

All the places visited by the General witnessed torches of a great revolutionary upsurge flaring up, creation of miracles and renovations and birth of world-startling events.

The great heyday of the Workers' Party in the 1980s, the successful conclusion of the unprecedented Arduous March and forced march, the successful satellite launch and underground nuclear test and the other epochal events are inconceivable separated from the General's people-bound train march.

That is why President Kim Il Sung described the General's continuous march for the people as people-bound train march. On December 17, Juche100(2011), the day which the whole world as well as our people recall as a day filled with tears of blood, General Kim Jong Il, though physically uneasy, got on the people-bound train despite the officials' and doctors' demand that he must be kept absolutely at rest.

The people who visit the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, seeing the people-bound train which was the General's house and office, recall with deep emotion the ennobling revolutionary career of the General who continued the road of devotion for the people until the last moment of his life without having a moment of proper rest and overcoming unimaginable pain.

The benevolent people-bound train which ran without a moment of rest bringing happiness and laughter to our people.

The people-bound train which President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il were on in their life time runs still today.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, on the people-bound train, visits People's Army units, factories, educational and cultural organs, people's pleasure grounds, welfare service facilities and houses.

Seeing him, our people feel the affection for them bestowed on them by the great leaders, and the train will run for ever on this land.
