Chairman
"There is no such a great man in the world as our leader Comrade
In the Korean folk song of Nyongbyon County, North Phyongan Province, the beauty of Yaksandongdae are sung.
Yaksandongdae, widely known among our people, has been regarded as one of the eight scenic spots in the northwestern part of Korea since olden times because it is as beautiful as it has been celebrated in the song for a long time.
The place, which is called the eastern pavilion in the mountains with lots of medicinal herbs and mineral water, is not so rugged and has beautiful scenery because of its mysterious peaks and rocks, deep forests, various kinds of flowers every season and historical relics.
It is always a beautiful place with pink azaleas in the spring, thick foliage in the summer, beautiful maples in the autumn, and dazzling snowscapes in the winter.
In addition, Jeilbong, Tongdae and Hakbyoru, scenic masterpieces in Yaksandongdae hamonize with several historical relics, which makes the scenic spots remarkable.
But it was the place where only the Japanese imperialists and the rich and authoritative enjoyed themselves in the past when Korean people lost the country.
Today it boasts its beauty for all ages, telling like a legend the noble outlook on the people of the President who devoted his all to the happiness of the people, regarding it as his lifelong motto to believe in the people as in Heaven.
One day in October Juche 38 (1949), more than 70 years ago, the President gave on-the-spot guidance to Nyongbyon County, North Phyongan Province.
That day he climbed the famous Yaksandongdae in Nyongbyon County, North Phyongan Province together with officials.
The officials who accompanied him wished he had taken a rest for a moment going around the scenic spot, but his on-the-spot guidance on the same day was not intended to enjoy its beautiful scenery.
He visited the scenic spot with a plan to turn Yaksandongdae into a genuine cultural recreation area for the people.
He told the accompanying officials about the origin and beauty of the Yaksandongdae one by one, and went around Soun temple, Chonju temple, Chonju pavilion and other historical relics proving the creative talents of our ancestors.
While visiting the temples, he told them that Buddhism says if a man believes in Buddha and does a "good deed", he will go to the "paradise" and enjoy happiness, but we should work hard to build a people's paradise on this land, not to go to the "paradise" after death.
In his instruction, the officials once again realised the noble intention of the President who always thought about the people while looking at a historical relic and decided to build a land where the people lived well.
After going around the historical relics, he told them that such scenic spots as Yaksandongdae and Mt. Myohyang, and historical relics there should be well protected, managed and handed down to posterity forever, and earnestly appealed to them to turn Yaksandongdae, which had been used as a pleasure resort for the Japanese imperialists, landlords and capitalists, into a cultural recreation area for Korean people.
They felt their boundless reverence for him at the significant moment when Yaksandongdae, which Korean people had neither climbed nor been looked up in those days when they lost their country, was a scenic spot and a cultural recreation area for the people under the guidance of President
Today it has been wonderfully changed under the loving care of the greatest man and is getting more beautiful with the blossoming Nyongbyon, people's scenic spots full of songs and laughter of happiness.
