Dear Father – Popular Song for a Large Family of Korea

A popular song released in the spring of 2024, Dear Father is attracting the hearts of scores of millions of people all over the country, becoming the Song of the Year for all Koreans as a hymn of the nation's single-hearted unity.

"Dear Father" is being merrily and proudly sung in chorus everywhere ranging from the beacon-lit islands in the open sea to the numerous coal faces underground!

The tune sings of the true picture of a harmonious family of socialist Korea united by kinship-a testimony to the ardent admiration of tens of millions of people for their fatherly leader Comrade Kim Jong Un.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"We should invariably carry forward the proud tradition of single-hearted unity, the tradition of adorning the red flag of the revolution only with victories on the strength of the harmonious whole wherein the Party believes in the people and the people absolutely trust in and follow the Party."

Everyone belongs to a family. The happy family may have a caring father and a loving mother, with their loveable children. The Korean people, however, have a large socialist family that is closely knit on the basis of their common destiny.

Ours is a harmonious whole in which entire population live like a family as the descendants of the father they hold in high esteem and of the greatest statesman the whole world has ever admired. This is the large DPRK family.

The theme song of the day Dear Father intends to describe the picture of the national unity by its lyrics and melody alike.

The first stanza highly praises of the warm heart of a benevolent father who takes boundless care of all children on this country, reading their minds in detail and in depth.

The first line "Warm-hearted as mother's bosom you are" reminds singers of his motherly image inspecting flooded areas on a rubber dinghy to save the flood victims, while the second line "Tender-hearted as father's embrace you are" recalls the moving story that when he heard a local report about some flood survivors who had pulled down their little-damaged houses coveting for a new one, the fatherly leader told the appalled local officials tenderly that the demolishers could do so because they surely believe in the Party and that they should supply a new house to each of them.

The second stanza expresses the inner world of the great father's boundless affection and trust.

Each line of the second stanza makes singers recollect about the sleepless nights he spent selecting the memorial photos for the seamen who had heroically fallen in action, and the belief he laid in the young people of the nation who volunteered to build a new housing district on the northern part of the capital city, with the area being named "Jonwi Street"(vanguard street in Korean) thanks to his deep trust in and expectation for them to become forerunners of the era.

Whether happy or difficult, he has always been with common people.

Our dear father! He has made it a rule of the work of the Workers' Party of Korea to make selfless devotion to the good of the people, saying we should get all the closer to them when they meet a misfortune.

Their deep gratitude towards him is getting more and more intense and irresistible until it turns into a song resounding all across the world. Their singing in praise of the dear father knows no bounds. Their hearts are full of a firm pledge of faith to trust and follow him forever. That is why the song Dear Father is full of reverence for the father of the large family.

Decades long ago, the Korean people used to sing a song called Dear Name in praise of Chairman Kim Jong Il, with the whole country excited with great reverence for him. Everybody, men and women, young and old, would call his name as affectionately as their father.

No wonder the Korean people cannot offer any other adjectives than the word dear to those greatest leaders the nation had ever had in its history of five-thousand years.

Comrade Kim Jong Un knows none other than people. He regards toiling and moiling as a pleasure for the rising generations. He devotes all his thoughts and practices to the benefit of people as well as the coming generations. The more he leads them, the more they want to follow him, and the more he takes care of them, the warmer they find his embrace is.
