Natural Acoustic Auditorium, Fruits of Loyalty to Leaders and Love for People

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visualized a plan for the rebuilding of the-then Moranbong Circus into a world-level theater for an exclusive use of an orchestra and gave his energetic guidance to the construction of the Samjiyon Theatre for the sake of people.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said.

"We should build larger numbers of, and more splendid, modern bases for cultural and leisure activities, as appropriate to the appearance of a civilized socialist power."

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un decided that Moranbong Circus, one of the oldest buildings in the country that was associated with the wise guidance of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, should be rebuilt into an excellent natural acoustic auditorium, perfect in terms of architectural beauty as well as acoustics while leaving its unusual architectural style intact, and personally gave energetic guidance to its reconstruction of 9 months.

The respected General Secretary said with deep emotion that it was the natural acoustic auditorium that the Chairman, who rendered brilliant services to the development of Juche-oriented musical art with unusual love for it during his lifetime, was most envious of and mentioned several times till the last period of his life.

Saying that his words were still ringing in his ears that a perfect natural acoustic auditorium should be built in our country, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un shaped his ideas in January Juche107(2018) that Moranbong Circus should be rebuilt into the world-level theatre for an exclusive use of orchestra which was characteristic of a natural acoustic auditorium and elucidated the orientation and ways for its construction.

He dispatched an experienced team of designers and the powerful construction forces, instructing that the acoustic need should be thoroughly met from the stage of design.

The respected General Secretary carefully examined and signed more than 400 miniatures and 3 000 pages of documents concerning the rebuilding of the theatre from January 25th, Juche107(2018) when the rebuilding was proposed, to the day of its completion. He also gave tens of assignments directly and 8 times on-the-spot guidance to the construction site of a cloud of dust.

He corrected some defects in detail, personally measuring the natural acoustic state of orchestral music at the construction site and sitting at an auditorium that would be taken by people, and determined various capital ideas, thus leading the whole course of construction to completion.

Under his special attention and direct guidance, the Samjiyon Theatre made its new appearance on a bank of the Pothong River as a grand edifice for culture and art, the monumental creation of WPK era, which is proud of the peculiar and luxurious formative beauty supported by the modern technics of architectural acoustics and in harmony with classical and modern beauties and artistics.

Built as a natural acoustic auditorium that correctly embodies the Juche-oriented architectural aesthetic idea of the WPK and the world-level acoustic need, the natural acoustic problem which had been the old dream in the field of theatre came to be solved and the desire of Chairman Kim Jong Il come true, which helped Korean people and artists create and enjoy musical art to their hearts' content at the luxurious and civilized theatre, the unenviable base for art activities.

Giving on-the-spot guidance to the theatre ahead of the opening ceremony on October 10th, Juche 107(2018), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un acquainted himself with the real state of construction in detail and solved the problems arising in running the theatre one after another.

The respected General Secretary made rounds of exterior and interior points of the theatre for long hours and concretely got firsthand information on the conditions of construction. Looking round a complete view of the theatre facelifted in an old yet refined way and saying that another luxurious building made its appearance in the middle of the capital adding beauty to the surrounding landscape, he said that when he had passed there before, he felt something depressed to see the old-fashioned building but now feels relieved to see the magnificently rebuilt theatre. He added that when people came to see it, they would be pleased, expressing his great satisfaction.

He listened to the performance of Samjiyon Orchestra from different spots of the concert hall personally and compared the acoustic features.

He expressed great satisfaction, saying that the acoustics of that concert hall was very good to hear, the natural acoustic sound of musical instruments was resounding as it was, the good acoustics made the orchestral music feel clear, fine, emotional and peaceful as well as elevating the orchestra's character and that it was a great innovation and a great success in the field of architectural acoustics.

The respected General Secretary sent a grand piano to the theatre as a present to celebrate the opening ceremony of the Samjiyon Theatre on the occasion of the birthday of the WPK.

Saying that the theatre would be another good present given to all the Party members and citizens of the capital who were about to mark the 73rd anniversary of the foundation of the WPK, he offered warm congratulations to all the artists of Samjiyon Orchestra who were to be presented with a new theatre.

Highly praising the Samjiyon Orchestra for their several good performances to represent the country with its peculiar appearance in a short span after it was organized, thus enhancing its reputation at home and abroad, he earnestly instructed that they should carry out art creating activities in an enthusiastic and experienced way, true to the WPK's ideas and policies on literature and arts, and devote themselves to the state.

Expressing his expectation and firm belief that the officials, writers and artists of Samjiyon Orchestra would take the lead in ushering in a new flourishing time of Juche-oriented art with high ability and artistic skill, bearing in mind the intention and expectation of the Party that offered them an excellent base of the revolutionary artistic activity, he posed for a picture with them at the circular concert hall of natural acoustics.

That day he emphasized that the theatre should be run properly, saying that the staff of the theatre should equip the theatre, the precious treasure and possession of our people, in a better way and carry out service activities in the best way so as to display the superiority of our people-centred socialist system.
