Star of Korea, Revolutionary Hymn resounding from Generation to Generation

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

"Young communists, praising Comrade Kim Il Sung as the morning star that had risen in the night sky of Korea and was shining bright all over the land of three-thousand ri, composed and widely disseminated revolutionary song Star of Korea."

This year marks the 111th anniversary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung, a peerlessly great sage approved by human race. Celebrating the Day of the Sun every year, not only Korean people and but also revolutionary people all over the world feel an irresistible yearning and reverence for the President who achieved immortal exploits in carrying out Korean revolution and the cause of independence.

President Kim Il Sung was such a great man, which can be proved only by the fact that Kim Hyok, Cha Kwang Su and other young Korean communists of the new generation created and disseminated revolutionary song Star of Korea in his early years of revolutionary activities.

In the darkest period of national sufferings when Korea was occupied by Japanese imperialists, young Korean communists of the new generation looked up to President Kim Il Sung as the sun of Korean nation who should save the nation from the fate of enslaved nation, entrusted their all to him and readily devoted not only their youth but also their lives on the way to uphold his leadership.

However, it was not because they foresaw that he would be elected as the General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the President of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the future or expected that high positions would be allotted to them after Korea was liberated.

Young Korean communists of the new generation looked up to President Kim Il Sung and defended him firmly only from the high sense of revolutionary obligation to the President who had rare wisdom, outstanding leadership and great personality, led them along the true road of revolution, and took warm care of them.

It is the revolutionary song Star of Korea that reflected the faith of young Korean communists of the new generation.

Burning their hearts with ardent desire and aspiration to make their whole nation feel boundless happiness and glory that they had President Kim Il Sung as their leader, young Korean communists of the new generation created revolutionary song Star of Korea and adopted even the decision of organization not to stop dissemination of the song but to spread far and wide, although he strictly prevented them from doing it.

They also smashed all sorts of vicious maneuvers of the nationalists and factionalists, launched out into wider regions to go deeply among the broad masses, and propagated his greatness with high pride and united the masses closely behind him.

"It is our paramount duty that we owe to our motherland and revolution to defend our leader Comrade Han Byol." This was just the firm faith and unshakable revolutionary creed cherished in the hearts of young communists. Young Korean communists of the new generation cherished such a noble revolutionary outlook on the leader, looked up to President Kim Il Sung as the center of their unity, the center of leadership and staunchly defended him, and struggled at the cost of their lives to thoroughly implement his idea and lines.

Since then more than half a century had passed and it was in the early 1980s that the revolutionary song Star of Korea resounded in 1920s got to be sung again by Korean people under the energetic leadership of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

One day when the year Juche 68(1979) was coming to an end, Chairman Kim Jong Il called some officials to the building of Party Central Committee of Workers' Party of Korea and let them listen to newly found revolutionary song Star of Korea.

When the song finished, the Chairman said that President Kim Il Sung had listened to the song and looked back on Kim Hyok with deep emotions, saying it seemed as if he returned to life. The Chairman continued to say that valuable treasure, precious asset in history, and wealth of revolution was found out indeed.

Thus, the song Star of Korea got to be resounded again on the land of Korea. Korean people, bearing in mind the meaningful idea contained in the song, made up their mind to firmly adhere to proud traditions of Korean revolution that remained loyal to the President and to give fuller play to it generation after generation.

It has been nearly a century since the revolutionary hymn Star of Korea was created but even today it is reverberating all over the country, arming tens of millions of sons and daughters of this land with staunch outlook on the leader and the spirit of loyalty to Han Byol cherished by the young Korean communists of the new generation.

Under the outstanding and seasoned leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, today Korean revolution is advancing vigorously, breaking through all sorts of ordeals and raging wind of history, and the countless number of fighters equipped with the spirit of defending their leader at the cost of their lives, the spirit of loyalty to Han Byol in our era are growing up in such powerful current of the revolution.

The spirit of worshiping and defending the leader at the cost of lives possessed by young communists of the new generation can still be found in the faces of the trustworthy young people who volunteered to go to arduous and difficult posts for socialist construction true to the Party's will and in the battlefields of grand socialist construction including the construction field of fifty thousand dwelling houses in Pyongyang City.

The spirit of loyalty to Han Byol pulsating in the revolutionary song Star of Korea is succeeding today as well as in the past and sure to be firmly solidified as the unbreakable might of Korea and cornerstone of single-hearted unity that no force can break down.
