"The immortal exploits of the great leader Comrade
The footprints of leadership of President
The President, who was guiding a consultative meeting on agricultural production in South Hwanghae Province on April 9 1974, said that the issue as to whether the agricultural production is raised or not depends crucially on how the County Party Committees guide the agricultural production, and earnestly said that the chief secretaries of County Party Committees should know better about agriculture than anybody else and give good guidance to the work for agricultural production.
Then he gave the senior official of the Unchon County Party Committee the task of turning the county into a county producing 100,000-tons of rice.
The senior official of the County Party Committee, who was deeply trusted by the President, conducted a vigorous campaign to introduce new methods of maize cultivation to the whole county along with reclamation of tideland.
However, they failed the detailed calculation of labor and fertilizer in the new method of maize farming, and it caused shortage of labor in planting maize seedlings and the fertilizer problem was raised seriously.
At that time of the year, May 24, the President called the senior official of the Provincial Party Committee and gave an instruction of great loving care that he would solve the fertilizer problem in Unchon County.
He then set important state affairs aside and came to the then Sinchang Cooperative Farm in Unchon County to look into the farming situation.
The President learned about the area of farming land in Unchon County, the number of tractors per 100 hectares, the means of transport, what machines were needed to turn the already blocked tideland into arable land, and he also inquired about the location and size of the intended tideland.
After learning in detail about the situation of the county, the President taught them one by one how to give Party guidance to agriculture, how to organize the work to introduce new farming methods and what the senior official of the County Party Committee should do.
And he presented lots of tractors and trucks to this county and gave detailed instructions one by one on the issue of turning out a lot of compost, without relying on chemical fertilizer only.
Under the instructions of President, the Unchon County Party Committee pushed ahead with the work to implement the Juche-oriented farming method on all maize fields.
As a result of the sweaty work of the farmers and people in the county with the fertilizer and machines sent by the President, the farms in the county could expect an average yield of 9-10 tons of maize per hectare.
On September 5, that year, the President visited Unchon County again to learn about the farming, with which he was quite satisfied, and he gave detailed instructions on the next year's farming.
On June 26 1975, the President visited the farm again, without a moment's break to relieve his fatigue from his visit abroad, inquiring into the farming situation and highly praised it as a model of the whole country.
However, the corn yields in Unchon County in 1976 was the worst in the province as the senior official of the County Party Committee, being content with the previous successes, failed to give good guidance on the agricultural production.
The President criticized the senior official for being conceited, called him to an important meeting and encourage him to do farming well, saying that he believed him.
Afterwards, too, he told the senior provincial official several times to take good care of Unchon County.
Two years later, the President came to South Hwanghae Province again in September 1979 and, being very pleased with the report on the bumper crop in Unchon County, highly appreciated the County Party Committee's work and extended special thanks to all the agricultural workers in the county.
Thanks to the energetic leadership of the President, who led the Party to give correct guidance on the agricultural production, a radical progress was made in the overall agricultural production not only of Unchon County but of whole South Hwanghae Province
