Not To Waste Even A Grain of Rice

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"Comrade Kim Il Sung's was a noble life of a people's leader, who regarded ‘The people are my God' as his motto, applied it to his ideas and leadership and turned it into reality."

Among the immortal exploits achieved by President Kim Il Sung for people is a moving story about him instilling patriotism into officials so that they would not lose even a grain.

President Kim Il Sung visited a grain management station in Onchon County, South Phyongan Province in April 1966.

He exchanged greetings with the officials of the station, looked around the premises and inquired about the number of employees and arrangement of the buildings, walking slowly towards the rice-cleaning factory.

He suddenly stopped, looked down carefully and said that there were a lot of grains of rice scattered on the ground.

At that time, the ground of the premises had not been paved, and grains dropped during work and transport were still buried in the ground.

The President told an official of the station that where grains were likely to fall, the grounds should be paved without fail to make it easy to collect all the fallen grains. He even indicated the area to be paved.

Then The President went up to the straw bags piled up in the yard, looked at them closely. He personally picked up one of them, checked its texture and, pointing to a loosely woven bag, stressed that such a bag would not hold grains properly.

And he beckoned two women workers who were sweeping the ground to gather up the fallen grains. Worrying that quite a lot of grains must have fallen, he told them earnestly that such a waste would harm the state and the people consequently.

The officials there felt guilty about taking it quite probable shedding some grains in a rice mill and they refreshed their mind not to waste even a grain with ardent patriotism and clean conscience as citizens of the country.

Thus, President Kim Il Sung, appreciating, first of all, the efforts of the farmers who worked hard all year round to produce as much rice as possible, encouraged the officials to be fully responsible for increased grain production with patriotism in their minds.
