In 2020, the DPRK was struck on several occasions by heavy floods and typhoons accompanied by a torrential rain and a tidal wave. They led to severe natural disasters in several regions of the country including the western, eastern and northern coastal areas. Railways, roads and bridges and other infrastructure were damaged, and many houses were flooded and destroyed. Uncountable numbers of people were left homeless and lost their property.
Such natural disasters struck not only the DPRK but also several other countries of the world, and the ensuing rehabilitation campaign was launched in those countries as well. However, in the DPRK, the rehabilitation campaign was conducted in a peculiar way as it was thoroughly run through with the people-first principle.

The people-first principle is the political ideology of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the Republic that regards the popular masses as the master of the revolution and construction, relies on them and makes selfless, devoted efforts for them. As the respected General Secretary regards it as his motto to believe in people as in Heaven, he most grieved over the sufferings of the people in the damage-stricken areas, convened a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK so that the rehabilitation campaign is successfully conducted. He even visited the afflicted areas to set forth concrete orientation and ways for the reconstruction, and saw to it that the provision of materials needed was given top priority.
In hearty response to the instruction of the respected General Secretary, the whole Party, the whole country and the entire army were mobilized in the rehabilitation campaign, and even a division of Party members of the Capital was organized for the campaign. The campaign was not carried out merely as a simple restoration of original buildings, but instead, more quality was emphasized throughout the rehabilitation campaign. It led to the building of fairylands in the afflicted areas within a short span of time, bringing out the resounding cheers of "Long Live the Workers' Party!", "Long Live Socialism!" from the people moving into new houses. Such remarkable phenomenon cannot be found in other countries.
So, what does the victory in the rehabilitation campaign in the DPRK show?
First, it shows that the politics of love for the people is becoming a reality in the DPRK.
The word "politics for the people" has long ago been introduced by a bourgeois politician. However, it has been nothing but a veil to cover up the exploitation and oppression of the people. The politics of true love for people is being realized only in the DPRK. They call the Workers' Party of Korea as the Mother Party and the people's government the guardian in the DPRK. Such terms have become the terms of the era of the Workers' Party. The rehabilitation campaign in the DPRK is a clear example of such a reality in which the people-first principle, the politics of love for people is implemented.
Secondly, the victory in the rehabilitation campaign in the DPRK shows the national trait of our society in which the whole society is like a big family.
Collectivism prevails in the DPRK, and helping and being helped is a common lifestyle of the people. The whole country people regarded the trouble of the disaster-stricken people as their own at the time, and unanimously expressed their desire to help them. Whenever there was a natural disaster in several other regions of the country, many more people volunteered to help the afflicted people, and the national trait of helping those in difficult situations was fully displayed.
Thirdly, the victory in the rehabilitation campaign in the DPRK shows the single-hearted unity of our country centered around its leader.
Our people, who have one and same mind and will in following the idea and intention of our leader, turned out as one in hearty response to the call of the respected General Secretary. Such deed can be performed only by the Korean people, who are single-heartedly united around their leader. Single-hearted unity is the source of infinite strength that overcomes any adversities. It was thanks to the full play of the strength of the single-hearted unity of the Korean people that such a rehabilitation campaign of serious nature could be completed rapidly.
It is indeed a miracle that the people in the disaster-stricken areas have come to live in greater happiness in the newly-built fairylands under the warm care the fatherly leader.
