President who had deep insight from the early days of the revolutionary struggle that the revolution is just the unity and the unity is the victory set a brilliant example in the work of realizing the unity of the revolutionary ranks while he was in Jilin.
President
"We fixed the first Sunday of May for Children's Association Day and created an atmosphere of unity by holding an athletics meeting attended by the Korean young people and students, their parents, influential figures and independence champions in Jilin on that day every year."
The first work performed by the President as he moved the centre of revolutionary activities to Jilin, was to rally the children as one.
On April 10, 1927, the President formed a legal organization called the Korean Children's Association in Jilin with Korean children.
The purpose of this Association was to educate the children with anti-Japanese ideas and train them into reliable reserves of the revolution.
The sons and daughters of the workers, peasants, small and medium-sized traders and nationalists, and other Korean children in Jilin joined the association.
After forming the association, the President paid primary attention to the work to promote the harmony of the children.
The reason was that the children had a strong tendency to form groups in "Jongui-bu" and "Chamui-bu", impelled and fought each other under the influence of their parents who were only scrambling for leading power.
It was sorrowful that the Koreans were deprived of the country by the Japanese imperialists and came to a foreign land living under all sorts of maltreatment and contempt; what's more, they turned their backs on and fought each other with. This was really unbearable.
In order to unite them as one, who were vigilant and confronted one another, there had to be an occasion for everyone to enjoy naturally.
The great leader organized sports meeting in the playground at the foot of Beishan on the first Sunday of May 1927, shortly after the formation of the Children's Association.
This was because a sport meeting is an occasion in which people play and enjoy together, and a very effective way to promote unity and harmony.
The great leader gave detailed instructions what sports to play at the sport meeting.
So the meeting was held with various events such as finding people, running, hurdling, dribbling with eyes covered, chess, a tug of war, wrestling, threading needles, passing through the bottles, sums, running with a jar on the head.
The President, the head of the Korean Children's Association in Jilin, sat in front together with the famous independence champions in the city and made a simple opening speech before the start of the competition.
The playground was full of Koreans living in and around Jilin from the early morning, and the members of the children's and students' society and their parents took part in the game.
The great leader paid special attention to achieving the unity and harmony of the boys in every game.
The great leader came to the players of the two teams standing face to face with the rope in their hands, and inspired them saying that only when everyone unites as one, can they win as the tug-of war is a game that requires the united strength of the team in particular.
The highlight was the game of finding people after the tug of war.
This was a game in which the boys were running to the finals with their parents and the independence champions whose names were written on paper cards.
Smiles and cheers burst out among the masses looking at them who were running in hands with the boys and girls, fluttering their skirts of their coats.
At this meeting, the spectacular view was that the independence champions, who had normally turned their backs on in favor of Jongui-bu, Chamui-bu and Sinmin-bu, were laughing together, having a talk and cheering with great enthusiasm.
This was the first time for the Koreans in Jilin had gathered in one place like a family, laughing and roaring.
Time passed with pleasure, and the sports ended in the afternoon, when the awarding ceremony was followed by a brief speech made by the President.
The great leader thanked the independence champions and parents for their sincere help in preparing the sports, and said that the sports greatly contributed to achieving the harmony and promoting unity of the Korean people living in Jilin.
Saying that he intended to organize such a sport meeting on the first Sunday of May every year, he continued to say that the united strength of the Koreans living in Jilin was shown in the sports, and that they should unite in the struggle against the Japanese, only then could they achieve the national liberation free from the chain of colonial slaves of the Japanese imperialists. He appealed to them to turn out as one in the struggle to defeat the Japanese imperialists and liberate the country.
After the sports, the boys, who seemed unlikely to be reconciled, became so lovely friends that they got on well each shoulder to shoulder with each other, and the work of the association proceeded successfully.
Indeed, it was a significant sport meeting that got rid of the distrust and fighting over a long time, and contributed to the achievement of harmony in a moment.
