An Earnest Request of the Father to All the Teachers

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

"The spiritual and moral traits of teachers should be more beautiful, ennobling and civilized than those of anybody else. In particular, as their influence on the growth and development of young students is very great, teachers of primary and middle schools should make extraordinary efforts to possess ennobling spiritual and moral traits and cultural attainments and teach and lead their students as parents bring up their children."

In a socialist society, teachers are entrusted with the sacred work of training people, the most precious beings in the world, to be more dignified and powerful.

Therefore, in Korea, the Party and the state give the teachers the precious title of professional revolutionaries who perform their honorable duty of educating the younger generation as successors to the revolution and revolutionary talents who will shoulder the future of the country and nation.

And teachers equip themselves with more beautiful, noble and civilized character than anyone else and they are encouraged to teach and lead the students with the spirit of bringing up their children as their mother.

Stories about President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who treated teachers as professional revolutionaries and made sure that they cherished the duty of genuine educators who teach students with parental affection are recorded in their revolutionary history.

One year President Kim Il Sung saw young students wearing clothes from which some buttons came off and said that it would be good for teachers to make a small button pocket and keep it in a table drawer and sew buttons on clothes of those students. He also said that they should take warm care of their students and educate them with maternal affection, not just being strict with them.

And one year, he saw to it that school uniforms were supplied with extra buttons.

On 6th August, Juche 52 (1963), Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the then Phungsan Middle School and instructed that sport facilities should be made in conformity with children's sentiment, who are active, have a keen power of observation and enjoy singing and dancing, saying that if the teachers' sincerity for the younger generation is deep, all of them will be exemplary.

And he left a meaningful autograph on the bark of a white birch as followings.

"Teachers! Love the students!

They are a precious treasure to shoulder the future of our revolution."

The noble and endless affection for the younger generation is inherited by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, today.

He said that the students would cherish the love for their own things and the spirit of patriotism from childhood in the course of their growth, if they use bags and school things made in Korea.

And by cherishing the intention of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who established a system in which the Party and state supply school uniforms to children for the first time in history, he said that we should devote our sincerity to the production of school uniforms and he took a measure for producing them.

On the New Year's Day, Juche 111 (2022), he, in person, examined samples of new uniforms which are to be supplied to students and clarified the issues arising in their production so that uniforms could be supplied to students on the occasion of the new school year.

He was very pleased to see students who were wearing new school uniforms on the occasion of the new school year. But on 15th September, Juche 111 (2022), he earnestly instructed that all students should be provided with uniforms which fit them.

That day, he told officials that it could be difficult for tailors to measure all the students because there are too many students. But he said that the teachers would be able to measure their sizes exactly if they were taught how to measure.

Teachers should be taught how to measure size of the students!

This is not only a good idea for making it possible that the students across the country wear uniforms that fit them but also a favor of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who wants all teachers across the country to teach them with maternal love.

Teachers should be not only educators who teach knowledge but also be true edifiers who take responsibility for students and lead them with the motherly affection.

Indeed, the fact that President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un gave detailed instructions on the issue of buttons and providing uniforms which fit the students and told the teachers across the country that they should become true revolutionaries who educate and lead the students with parental affection and take responsibility for them to the last shows what duty and mission of Korean teachers are.

All the teachers across the country regard their earnest favors as their duty and mission and keep them in their mind as important tasks and devote themselves to the younger generation. Herein lie the true features of education in Korea.
