The respected Comrade
"Cherishing as his faith the revolutionary principle that the masses are the masters of the revolution and construction and they have the strength with which to propel the revolution and construction, Comrade
President
The story about his visit to the then Yaksu Cooperative Farm in Kangso County touches the hearts of all people.
In February, 1977, he convened a consultative meeting of agricultural workers in Kangso and Ryonggang counties while giving field guidance to the rural areas in South Phyongan Province.
In the meeting, he analyzed and reviewed the farming situation of the previous year and gave valuable instructions on the matters arising in farming. He looked round the hall and asked a sub-workteam leader how much fertilizer had been applied in the previous year. After hearing his answer, he asked him in detail about the fertilizer application according to the different periods of farming, including the amount of fertilizer applied to the rice seedbed, tillering fertilizer and the initial manure. But the sub-workteam leader failed to answer his question properly. He could never remember the amount of fertilizer used throughout the year.
Then, President
President said nothing for a while. The attitude towards keeping a diary of the sub-workteam leader showed the reality in the agricultural field where farming was being done in a rough way.
There was a heavy silence in the hall. After a while, the great leader told the officials that in order to do farming in a scientific and technological way, it was necessary to keep the farming diary and actively use it in farming.
He said that the sub-workteam leaders could not know what kind of fertilizer they had applied to the field because they did not keep the farming diary. He also told them that the effectiveness of fertilizer application could be increased only when it was applied in a scientific way. He then talked about the experience of others who benefited from keeping the farming diary.
His explanation was really vivid and convincing enough to make the attendants of the meeting fully realize the important role of the farming diary in bringing success in farming.
They deeply regretted not having kept the farming diary which was very important in doing the farming in a scientific way, as required by the Juche farming method. That day's meeting with the great leader in presence was an occasion that made them realize how farm workers should work.
Indeed, President
