Patriotism is a Proud Tradition of the Korean People

 2026.8.22.

Today, the Korean people are vigorously accelerating the efforts for achieving comprehensive rejuvenation and development of the state, firmly united around the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, carrying forward the patriotic tradition created by the revolutionary forerunners.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"It is the tradition of our struggle and the nature of our people, if it is the Party's call, to turn out with a single mind and will and work continuous miracles as great as moving mountains and filling in the seas."

Patriotism is a proud tradition of the Korean people.

The brilliant achievements of leap forward and innovation in the annals of the Korean revolution of the midst of unprecedented adversity in history, written in golden letters, are a precious fruition of the patriotic tradition peculiar to the Korean people united around the great leader.

Above all, patriotism is a noble tradition created by the first generations of the Korean revolution in the flames of the anti-Japanese war.

The proud tradition of the patriotic struggle of overcoming all difficulties with the spirit of ardent love for the country and nation was created by the anti-Japanese fighters.

The Korean revolutionaries created a history of resistance in the blizzards of Mt Paektu, and provided valuable revolutionary heritage for the Korean people to carry forward through generations. This is a great historic exploit the Korean revolutionaries performed for their country and revolution.

They were true revolutionaries and patriots who saved the destiny of their country and nation by displaying the ardent patriotic spirit and the fighting spirit of fortitude.

They fought at the cost of their life to defend the destiny of their country and revolution whenever the Korean revolution faced crucial historical periods and difficulties cropped up before the revolution; they were the first generation of the Korean revolution, who showed in practice how to hold their leader in high esteem and what attitude they should display in the struggle for the country and nation.

They felt to the marrow of their bones that only when they waged the revolution with ardent love for their country, they could win back the country and save the destiny of the nation, so they could display unparalleled bravery and self-sacrificing spirit in the struggle to save the destiny of the country.

As they remained faithful to their leader throughout their lives and served their country and fellow people without the slightest deviation or change of mind, they now stand in the revolutionary ranks as its first generation and laudable revolutionary forerunners.

Next, patriotism is a proud tradition peculiar to the Korean people, which is being carried forward generation after generation.

Each country has its history, and this history has a tradition which is handed down with one character. The destiny and future of a country depends on how its tradition is inherited, defended and developed in its pure form.

Even in the face of difficulties, the Korean revolution has been able to make a vigorous advance towards the goal it set along the road of its choice without any moment's stagnation or a slight vacillation. This is ascribable to the thorough inheritance of the noble tradition established in its pioneering period.

The patriotic tradition created in the flames of the anti-Japanese war was brilliantly inherited by the great wartime generation.

The victorious generation were patriots, who unhesitatingly turned out in do-or-die battles to defend the leader and to remain faithful to the pledge they had made to the leader and displayed the unyielding courage, looking up to the Supreme Headquarters, even as they confronted death.

In the fierce Fatherland Liberation War, which can be called a showdown between a rifle and an atomic bomb, the Korean people won a great victory; after the war they built a socialist state of independence, self-sufficiency and self-reliance by devoting their blood and sweat to the future of the country, even though everything was destroyed. This was possible only with the patriotic struggle of the victorious wartime generation who fought with ardent love for the socialist country, firmly united around the Party and the leader.

Today the Korean people are firmly carrying forward the proud tradition of patriotism and displaying their traits as a revolutionary people in the worthwhile struggle of waging the revolution under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

On the road of executing the five year plan presented by the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea, many meritorious persons of socialist patriotism and labour innovators were produced, and many young people volunteered to work at in all the difficult and labour-intensive sectors called by the Party, including posts of national defence, farms, mines and schools in remote mountains and islands. This clearly proves that the Korean people are steadily carrying forward the tradition of patriotism. "Let us unite on the strength of patriotism!"–this is the most vital and important slogan for the comprehensive development of socialism, and a greater victory and prosperity of Korea, a guideline for creation and struggle.

The spirit of Juche Korea, which is advancing towards the goal of a powerful country without any hesitation or vacillation in the face of difficulties, is a clear demonstration of the tradition of patriotism and an unquenchable eruption of its might.
