The Spirit of Kangwon Province is a Spirit of the Times

At present, it is WPK's requirement that all sectors and fields should launch an all-out offensive to successfully implement the important task put forward in the 4th Plenary Meeting of the 7th Party Central Committee, upholding the slogan of self-reliance and self-sufficiency.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"We should regard his instructions as our guideline and carry them out unconditionally without any deviation and without any concession, so as to bring his plans and desires to brilliant fruition."

The socialist politics which realizes the independent cause of the masses of people should start from the spirit of the times that represents the given historic times of the socialist cause. Only then, can it be the powerful politics which successfully carries out the revolution and construction by giving full play to the ideological consciousness of all the members of society.

The spirit of the times that represents the given historic times is created by the most advanced and core organization that deeply grasps the requirements of the times, lives and works with it, and by the organization that takes the lead in the revolutionary advance of the society. The fighting spirit created by such organizations can only deal with all the problems required by the times in a most revolutionary way and properly guide the development of society in keeping with the common requirements and aspirations of the members of society.

Now the Spirit of Kangwon Province is the spirit of the times that takes the lead in the struggle to translate the ideal of building a powerful socialist country into reality.

On December 12, Juche 105(2016), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited Wonsan Army-People Power Station and said that all the officials and people who built another large-capacity hydroelectric power station by relying on their own efforts, true to the lifetime instructions of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and the intentions of the Party, were the indomitable fighters who proved in practice the great validity of self-development-first spirit.

Then he set up the Spirit of Kangwon Province created by them as the model spirit of the times that all the people should learn after.

The Spirit of Kangwon Province, the spirit of the times that was set up as model by the respected General Secretary, is the mind of people loyal to the Party who are trying to realize the Chairman' s patriotic wish to build a powerful country.

In other words, it is the spirit that carries out the lifetime instructions of the great Leaders and Party policies with their own efforts by turning out with death-defying faith and indomitable will.

First of all, the Spirit of Kangwon Province is the do-or-die spirit to implement the lifetime instructions of the great leaders and the Party's line and policy.

Revolution is the cause of carrying out the ideas of the leader and the policies of the Party and its victory is ensured through the process of implementing the leader's ideas and lines and the Party's policies to the end.

So, revolutionaries should carry out the ideas and lines, orders and instructions of the Party and the leader to the end in order to fulfil their mission and duty.

The do-or-die spirit is the spirit of lofty loyalty that is manifested from the absolute trust in the leader and at the same time, the spirit of human bombs, the spirit of citadel and shield in which people are willing to sacrifice themselves and go into water and fire without hesitation for the leader.

It is intensively displayed in the process of accepting the ideas of the leader and the Party's policy as the absolutely correct ones and as the supreme order, and carrying out them without any deviation or concession.

Wonsan Army-People Power Station is the posthumous power station which was associated with the wise guidance of the Chairman who devoted himself to the happy life of people in Kangwon Province. It was also associated with his patriotic wish to build a powerful nation.

In hearty response to the lifetime instructions of the Chairman and the noble ideals of the respected General Secretary, people from Kangwon Province vigorously rose up in their efforts to build the power station and fully displayed the spirit of carrying out the Party's policies even under the unprecedented ordeals and adverse conditions during the construction.

In December, Juche 105 (2016), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un walked around the dam of the completed power station.

He said that the officials, Party members and other working people from Kangwon Province burned their hearts with yearnings for the Chairman who devoted himself to the benefits of them and launched the campaign to carry out the leader's lifetime instructions and defend the Party's policy, thus creating the miracles of completing the large- scale project of the power station by the Province itself.

The reality of Kangwon Province vividly shows that only when we regard the work of adhering the leadership exploits of the great leaders and adding glory to them as their main task and implement them at the cost of their life, can every work such as production go well, and can people benefit from the Party's policy practically, which gets them to shout "Long live the WPK!" and "Long live socialism!" That is why the Spirit of Kangwon Province becomes the powerful spirit of the times which takes the lead in the building of a socialist powerful society.

Second, it is the spirit of self-reliance with which to solve all the problems by their own efforts cherishing the firm faith that self-reliance is the only way for us to live.

The spirit of self-reliance is the most fundamental spirit which the masses of people, the masters of revolution and construction, and the masters of their own destiny, should possess.

Under severe conditions of the present times, the only way to live is to rely on our own efforts and mobilize and use all the internal resources to the maximum, that is, self-reliance is the only way to live.

No country is willing to help us and nobody wants our country to get more thriving.

When we possess the spirit of self-reliance, we can brave all the trials and difficulties and achieve the greatest success in the worst conditions.

All the changes in Kangwon Province are the fruition resulted from patriotism and loyalty of the people from Kangwon Province who are determined to carry out the lifetime instructions of the leader and the Party's policy by relying on the spiritual strength of self-reliance without any fail.

Despite severe difficulties, people from Kangwon Province fully displayed the spirit of self-reliance with which they solved all the problems by their own efforts, cherishing the firm faith that self-reliance was the only way to live through the struggle to carry out the instructions of the leader and the Party's policies unconditionally by turning out in the campaign with the death-defying determination and indomitable will and by their own efforts.

Chairman Kim Jong Il saw to it that the relevant sectors should solve all the problems arising in the building of Wonsan Army-People Power Station, including equipment, materials, and other goods.

As compared with other provinces, Kangwon Province has weak industrial foundations and has fewer workers than them.

So it was not easy for them to build a hydroelectric power station with the capacity of tens of thousands KW which would produce electricity by making a high head through the method of changing the direction of the river flowing to the West Sea of Korea into the East Sea of Korea in the rough mountainous areas of Yohae-ri, Popdong County, Kangwon Province.

But all the officials and people from Kangwon Province regarded the project of building a new hydroelectric power station as the Chairman's trust in them and displayed the spirit of self-reliance and completed the main waterway tunnel.

As they burnt their heart with the idea of completing the construction of the power station, they organized the shocking brigade of a women's union which could not be found in other construction sites, and a lot of women turned out and completed the construction of the dam made of the stones and sand using the sacks. Thus, they could make a man-made lake.

On that day of December when he was looking around the Wonsan Army-People Power Station, the creation of self-reliance, the respected General Secretary pointed to the large-sized letters "Self-reliance" on the dam and said that the letters were very encouraging.

He continued that the power station was the one which proved once more that self-reliance was the only way for us to live and we could do anything when we struggled with the spirit of self-reliance as the motive force and the one which embodied the indomitable fighting spirit of the Party.

The respected General Secretary said that seeing the fighting merit of people from Kangwon Province, he was convinced that we could brave all the severe trials with such strong people who would move mountains and reclaim the sea in hearty response to the Party's call and that we could hasten the day of opening the door of the thriving country.

The reality of Kangwon Province clearly shows that if one believes in himself and has do-or-die spirit and indomitable will, he can surely create miracles even in the harshest conditions. That is why the Spirit of Kangwon Province becomes the powerful spirit of the times that leads the building of the thriving socialist country properly.

Third, it is the indomitable fighting spirit of setting goals in a bold and a big way and braving all the trials and difficulties for winning the victory.

If one does not believe in himself and relies on the others, he will never achieve the victory in revolution but vacillate and give up the revolutionary struggle halfway, losing his courage and confidence, thus failing to break through bottlenecks and difficulties.

Indomitable fighting spirit enables the revolutionaries not to hesitate and obey manifold trials and ordeals but to make headway against them and brave them in a bold way.

Wonsan Army-People Power Station was a large-scale project because this power station was the hydroelectric power station of basin-changing style that generates electricity by changing the direction of the river and making a high head.

The officials from Kangwon Province, cherishing the firm determination of carrying out the Party's policy that enabled them to do anything if they held fast to the great leader's instructions and the Party's policy as the main line, gave it a full play during the construction of the power station.

The officials and builders regarded the issue of construction as an ideological matter in which they could keep the oath they made before the Chairman or not, not as an economic and technical matter, mapped out a plan in a bold and a big way to build the power station, and made dynamic efforts to complete the project. So, immediately after the construction of Wonsan Youth Power Plant, they finally built another modern one with the capacity of tens of thousands KW.

Cherishing the do-or-die will to unconditionally finish the project ahead of schedule even if they were becoming rock drills and timbers, the officials from Kangwon Province lived under the same roof with the shocking brigade members on the spot and pushed ahead with the project, including rock drilling, powder charging, blasting, and mucking, even under the dripping water in water tunnels without any stop.

They personally solved all the problems of labour force, facilities and materials and applied rational boring positioning and blasting method so as to double the construction speed, thus driving the waterway tunnel No. 5 and No. 6, which was said that it would be impossible to finish it even in a year, and opened up a bright prospect for advancing the date of completion.

And in order to finish the construction of thousands metres of high pressure resistance iron pipes at an earlier date, they installed a production base of graphite electrode at Munchon Steel Works and made steel production Juche-oriented and thus, solving the technical problems arising in setting up the production process of graphite electrode which had been relied on imports.

And they built 5 new production buildings and manufactured machines, and they opened up a bright prospect for steel production relying on locally abundant magnetite.

The pioneer's figure shown by the officials from Kangwon Province kindled the flames on the hearts of the masses of people, and the builders burnt their hearts with death-defying determination to devote all their lives to realizing the instructions of the leader and the lines and policies of the Party.

In this way, Wonsan Army-People Power Station could be built by the death-defying efforts and unstinted support of the officials, workers and people who burnt their hearts with Kim Jong Il's patriotism and who cherished the do-or-die spirit and indomitable will. With the indomitable faith which was firmed into iron-willed, all officials, Party members and working people have laid solid foundations for cement and steel needed for the projects within the Province by rebuilding Ryongdam Cement Factory and Munchon Iron Mill. And they installed Juche-oriented production bases of finishing materials at Anbyon Ceramic Factory, Wonsan Disabled Soldiers' Plastic Daily Necessities Factory, Wonsan Cabinetmaking Factory, thus contributing a lot to building the December 6 Children's Camp, the Provincial Sanatorium for War Veterans and the Provincial Art Theatre in a splendid way.

The fighting spirit displayed by the officials from Kangwon Province shows that only when they become creative and progressive designers, talented planners and unyielding practicians, can they organize and lead all the work with the high demanding attitude in conformity with the intentions of the Party and speed up the advance of their units from the correct viewpoint on Party's policy, and with the knowledge about science and technology, skilful organizational ability and methods.

Because the Spirit of Kangwon Province reflects the revolutionary mettle and fighting spirit of the officials and people from Kangwon Province who have always achieved victory by dint of bold offensive, it becomes an indomitable attacking spirit with which they bravely get through any trials and difficulties.

The Spirit of Kangwon Province also reflects the unshakable will of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is determined to build a prosperous country and bring an happy life by our own efforts, our technology and our resources.

The spirit of the times which reflects the aspirations of the times and people serves as the driving force of creating miracles in the given historic times and it can be developed endlessly as the development of the times and reach the higher level.

Kangwon Province is today's Kangson and Jagang Province. Whenever the country faced with harsh trials and difficulties, President Kim Il Sung visited Kangson Steel Works and Chairman Kim Jong Il visited Jagang Province during the Arduous March and Forced March, and created Kanggye Spirit with which we pioneered the march towards the paradise blazing trials unprecedented in history.

So the Spirit of Kangwon Province becomes the model spirit of the times which push forward today's general offensive to realize the lifetime desires of the great leaders, dreams and ideals of the people.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said that the officials and people who built another hydroelectric power station with such an extremely large capacity were the indomitable fighters who proved the great validity of the principle of self-reliance first and have appreciated them as the creators of the Spirit of Kangwon Province.

The respected General Secretary still visits Kangwon Province again and again.

Here reflects the respected General Secretary's warm trust in, affection for and high expectation of people from Kangwon Province who have proved validity and vitality of the Party's policy in practice and who encouraged the Party.

Today is not only the glorious Kim Jon Un's era in which we emerge victory after victory, true to his ideas and wise leadership, but the great historic times in which all people are firmly rallied behind the respected General Secretary single-heartedly and rise up vigorously to realize the intentions and desires of the great leaders into reality.

The Spirit of Kangwon Province is the spirit which reflects the historic features of the great Kim Jong Un's era.

When we uphold the banner of the Spirit of Kangwon Province, the socialist cause of Juche will win victory after victory demonstrating the mettle of socialist Korea and true character of our socialist society in which all the people are firmly rallied behind the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un single-heartedly.
