A Great Man's Principle of Life

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"President Kim Il Sung looked after his people with a warm heart and approached them in a simple and unceremonious manner."

The frugality of President Kim Il Sung was one of the noble traits characterizing his popular traits.

The great life of the President is full of many stories about his invariably frugal life, sharing joy and sorrow with ordinary workers and farmers.

One winter morning, when President Kim Il Sung was giving field guidance to a local area, the officials, who were helping the President's preparation for the departure at the lodging quarters, were shocked to find that the inside of the leather shoes the President was wearing was all worn out.

The officials thought that his long journey of guidance visits to factories and farms could have rendered his shoes worn-out like that. The officials felt remorse for failing to assist him well.

At that time, the President came out to the porch. The officials suggested, in haste, that he should wear a new pair of shoes. Reading the whole story in their faces, the President said, with a smile, that the shoes were still good enough. His voice was soft, but the officials could not help feeling sorry, so they said that they would bring a new pair of shoes to him immediately.

But the President gently declined their offer and said that they should not throw away the shoes that were still in good condition and that he could still wear them. And he suggested replacing the leather lining inside the shoes as they were comfortable to walk in. He even explained to them how to put the leather lining in the shoes.

The officials couldn't control their emotions by seeing such frugal trait of the President, who even declined a new pair of shoes and wanted to have his old shoes repaired, while taking scrupulous care of the people so that they could lead happy lives without worrying about food, clothing and housing.

Later, when the officials brought the repaired shoes to the President, he looked at them from various angles and expressed his satisfaction, saying that they were well-repaired and looked like new ones.

Looking up to the President with a bright smile on his face, the officials could not help dampening their eyes.

As the foregoing illustrates, there were countless occasions when the President declined even simple sincerity of officials with regard to his life.

The most ardent desire of all the people living on this land is good health and longevity of the President and holding him in high esteem forever. But whenever the officials showed even a little sincerity to do what they ought to do, reflecting the earnest desire of the people, the President strictly checked them and earnestly dissuaded them.

He said that it was good for a revolutionary to lead a frugal life, and that no one who was not frugal in life could manage the country's economy scrupulously and have genuine love for the country and the people. This was a principle of life maintained by the President.

The world history has not seen such a great leader of the people who shared joy and sorrow with the people, without allowing any privilege to himself, and possessed of such noble popular traits as the President.

Indeed, President Kim Il Sung is the great leader of the revolution that had never been recorded in history, the benevolent father of the people and a peerless great man admired by all people.
