While he was on a visit to Russia in summer Juche90(2001), he was very envious of an official for returning to the country earlier and he missed the President, his people and home country. During the historic 20-day visit to Russia he spent every second missing his country and people even in the midsummer heat.
When he returned to the country after the successful visit to China in May, Juche100(2011), he sat together with commanding members of the KPA and told them that during the 7-day visit, our people always took the centre of his thought, which was his genuine sentiment.
The great General always cherished his country and people deep in his heart and dealt with everything in close combination with his people. While he was on his historic visit to China in Juche72(1983), he once had tasty haw cakes among various kinds of desserts during the interval of talks. He didn't forget the taste and soon after he returned, he told officials that once we had a sample of haw cakes, we could also make it. He regretted not bringing the sample and said that he felt sorry for returning to the country with nothing for our people.
His ardent yearning for the country and endless ambition for the people made his love for both of them burn with more fervent, people-oriented emotions and this was applied in his glorious patriotic life.
As above-mentioned, he cherished his country and people deep in his heart and strived for them all his life, writing the noble history of the most fervent patriotism brimming with ardent yearning and affectionate emotions.

His parka, hat, gloves, train, nap and rice-ball remain witnesses of his patriotic life filled with the most earnest and self-sacrificing devotion to the prosperity of the country and the well-being of the people.
Even a parka gets thin if one wears it long, and it cannot keep one warm in the cold. Though icy wind got through the old parka, he burned his heart with a sense of responsibility for the defence of his country. He wore the parka for more than ten years, when he displayed the strong will and superhuman energy going on with his inspection of the military units on the front line to train the soldiers into a-match-for-a-hundred combatants.
With the will not to take it off before he heightened the dignity of his country and people to the peak, he continued to wear his field jacket until the sleeves were worn out, even to the last moment of the funeral ceremony.
His patriotic devotion was highly-intensified combat-style devotion which he continued with naps and rice-balls.
Everybody has the same amount of 24 hours a day. But the great General regarded it as such a precious asset that he treated a nap as the softest slumber, rice-ball as the ideal meal for revolutionaries.
He constantly continued the road of devotion for the prosperity of the country and the well-being of the people, creating a new patriotic legend of field life on the way of highly-intensified forced march unprecedented in the history of great men of the world. He spent his whole life thoroughly for his country and people.
Indeed, the great General was the peerless patriot, the legendary great man who lived a life of the most earnest and self-sacrificing devotion to the prosperity of the country and the well-being of the people with the most fervent and warmest love for both of them and herein lies the important reasons why the patriotism he cherished and applied in his practical activities is the most ennobling patriotism which can be associated only with his name.
