Parental Care for Yonphungho Fish Stocking Station

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, regards it as the first of the foremost state affairs to improve the living standards of the people, and is making devoted efforts to the end. A typical expression is to be found at the Yonphungho Fish Stocking Station.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"To develop fish farming is one of the important ways to increase the supply of fresh fish to the people."

One of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un's constant concerns is how to provide the people with delicious fish dishes of high nutritional value. He suggested on several occasions that the Yonphungho Fish Stocking Station be established to ensure scientific and technical farming of mandarin fish in Lake Yonphung which has a favourable condition for habitation of the fish.

Later, having received the report that the construction of the station was in the final stage, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un sent breeding mandarin fish in two installments.

At the inauguration ceremony the station stocked Lake Yonphung with dozens of thousands of mandarin fish fry hatched by the breeding fish, plus hundreds of thousands of fry of other kinds of fishes which were needed to form a food chain for the mandarin fish. In this way a breeding fish base came into existence on Lake Yonphung which can hatch mandarin fish eggs and grow them on a scientific and technical basis.

One scorching hot day in August Juche 107(2018), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the newly-built station which is on the beautiful Lake Yonphung.

Looking round different places including the hatching room and the open-air breeding pond, he gave important instructions on developing the fish stocking positively, emphasizing that the Yonphungho Fish Stocking Station had to produce a large number of fry including those of mandarin fish and release them into the lake true to its mission.

He noted: The fish stocking is an essential primary process in implementing the Workers' Party of Korea's policy of fishing industry as it is an important work to protect the fisheries resources and increase the fish production in the future. It is necessary to set up good breeding fish bases like the Yonphungho Fish Stocking Station all across the country and ensure good operation of them. Also it is necessary to launch a mass campaign of protecting and increasing the fisheries resources on the basis of advanced science and technology while energizing fish farming and other kinds of aquiculture in the natural water areas. In this way we will be able to produce a lot of nice fishes of different kinds like the mandarin fish and supply them to our people in the near future.

He continued to say: It would be good to conduct cage-net fish farming in the reservoirs that have come along with the construction of the Chongchongang Power Station in Tiers. Provinces, cities and counties should well manage the work of creating breeding fish bases and releasing the fry to suit local conditions. By doing so we will be able to protect and increase the fisheries resources and thus improve the people's living standard.

The officials and workers of the Yonphungho Fish Stocking Station felt deeply grateful to the General Secretary for his visit to their station in such scorching weather and his sufficient indication of their task. They made a pledge to work hard to bring about earlier the day of the lake swarming with schools of mandarin fish.
