Birthday of Devotion

February is the time that arouses Korean people's warm memory of General Kim Jong Il.

General Kim Jong Il was the noble example of peerless patriot and patriotic devotion who dedicated his all for happiness of the people like the mother who takes pleasure in obediently devoting her whole life for happiness and the bright future of her children.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"Though he devoted his all throughout his life to the prosperity of the country and the happiness of the people, General Kim Jong Il left nothing for himself. He was on the most intensive forced march, taking not a moment's rest, until he breathed his last on a moving train. Such a leader has never been witnessed anywhere in the world."

General Kim Jong Il visited more than 14,290 units during his revolutionary life, which adds up to more than 1,674, 610 ri-trip of field guidance not caring whether it was day or night and not knowing holiday on the road to bring people happiness.

One day he went on the field guidance trip saying that as the advance of our motherland would slow down if we yielded a step, we couldn't take an easy route considering the weather. Another day he set off long journey on his birthday saying he missed beloved soldiers and workers.

The holiday in February, 1999 was one of those many examples.

Although it was his birthday, General Kim Jong Il dedicated the whole day for the happiness of beloved people and soldiers on February 16th, 1999.

That day he paid a visit to a women's AA machine gun company positioned in the remote mountain and cared the female soldiers. That afternoon he watched ski training of soldiers and officers' families of another unit of KPA, and bestowed favors on them.

He returned to his accommodation when it was already dark and deeply regretted that he hadn't presented the soldiers and their families with anything although they had taken trouble to go up and down the mountain for skiing on such a cold day. He told an official that he wanted to give them some presents and took measures to give everyone a pair of skis as a training souvenir.

That evening the great General sat at the dinner table together with officials.

The officials got moved to see only a few dishes cooked with potato on the table.

With a wide smile on his face the great General said that he had spent a whole day with soldiers and it was his pleasure and rest to spend a day for people and soldiers.

He also asked the officials to discuss the solutions to carry out revolution in potato farming and improve people's diet tasting those potato dishes.

The birthday dinner of General Kim Jong Il became a meeting for potato farming.

The great General devoted even his birthday for the people and took pleasure and pride in doing so!

General Kim Jong Il was indeed a peerless patriot and benevolent father who dedicated his whole life for the prosperity of motherland and the happiness of people, and achieved everlasting historic feats in the history of the country.
