An Exclusive Meeting Place For President Kim Il Sung

 2023.4.27.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"Kim Il Sung was a great man with ennobling character and virtue."

In the days when President Kim Il Sung was conducting his revolutionary activities in Jilin, all the people, irrespective of their ideals and principles, knowledge, affiliations and careers were attracted by the noble personality and magnanimity of the President and even deep-rooted, religiously biased people were influenced by trust and benevolence of the President.

Among them are stories that the monks of the Yaowang Shrine in Beishan outside Jilin, attracted by the noble personality of the President, arranged the cellar of the Yaowang Shrine for the private meeting room of the President.

There were two monks at the Yaowang Shrine outside Jilin, who were well-known to be eccentric and difficult.

So many people abused two men, and even the police were reluctant to deal with them.

One of them was Ryu Ga Sang, whose nephew had been involved in the revolutionary organization, and out of the influence of the religious family, altered his way of life and honestly carried out the assignment of the organization but his face always showed the shadow of distress because his uncle was the object of the censure of the people.

The President, informed of this through a member of the organization, visited the Yaowang Shrine several times and personally met them. The two monks who had rarely opened their hearts gradually changed their attitude as the President treated them politely, talking about the Chinese novel "Pilgrimage To The West".

One day something unpropitious happened in the temple.

Some drunken young men threw stones at the Yaowang Shrine because they hated the two monks. So the site for memorial service that had been well-decorated to hold service to the God of Medicine, became messy and the roof was damaged to a considerable extent.

The two monks were so furious that they would fight with the drunken young men.

The President immediately arrived at the site upon the report. Discriminating between right and wrong in the situation, he severely scolded the violent behaviour of the young men and sternly asked them to apologize to the monks at once and restore the shrine to its original state.

The drunken youths, discouraged by the righteous advice of the President, hung their heads and stumbled back.

The President approached the two monks and said that he would make them break their bad habits and that he would apologize to them instead. He added that his comrades would restore the shrine to its original state.

They were so grateful to and moved by his words that they took his hand and shed tears.

The members of the organization immediately started restoration of the damaged part of the shrine.

Those young men repented of their mistakes and came back to help them with their work.

Afterwards the President saw to it that the members of the organization took good care of the lives of two monks. He told them to give firewood to the monks and sweep away fallen leaves or snowfall near the shrine in autumn and winter before them.

Being moved and attracted by the President, the two monks used to look forward to his visit on Saturdays and Sundays and arranged the basement exclusively for the meeting room of the President.

When President Kim Il Sung was presiding over a secret meeting there, both of them would voluntarily act as lookouts for his safety.

The President, in his reminiscences "With the Century", said that the basement was a marvelous meeting place, and the priest had been won over to their side.

The President formed the Young Communist League of Korea in the basement and organized a mass anti-Japanese struggle against the Jilin-Hoeryong railway project.

The basement of Yaowang Shrine is still preserved in its original state and there is a sign that says "Room for Secret Activities of President Kim Il Sung", handing down the great personality of the President to posterity.
