 2026.7.23.

With the noble moral obligation to Chairman Kim Jong Il and his boundless love for the people, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un is working heart and soul to realize the noble desires of the great General on the highest level as soon as possible.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"We should display infinite loyalty in holding the great General Kim Jong Il in high esteem and translate his plans and desires into reality as befits his followers and disciples."

Turning the DPRK into a country famous for mushrooms-this was a noble desire of Chairman, who always paid deep attention to the people's living.

In his lifetime, Chairman intended to cultivate mushrooms on a nationwide scale and an all-people basis so as to supply more tasty and nutritious mushrooms to the people and thus make the country famous for them, and directed great efforts to the cultivation and production of mushrooms across the country.

He solved all problems arising in the research work of the mushroom institute and in the construction of mushroom farms. Whenever he visited units of the Korean People's Army, he said that it would be like solving the meat problem if they ensured a good supply of mushrooms, and gave instructions on widely cultivating mushrooms on dozens of occasions.

Therefore, the respected General Secretary said that he came to know well about the painstaking efforts the great General made for mushroom farming while reading the innumerable teachings he gave about mushroom in his immortal classic works. He added that it is his firm determination to make the country famous for mushrooms.

Thanks to the devoted efforts of the respected General Secretary who cherished as his firm determination the desire of Chairman to turn the DPRK into a country famous for mushrooms, standardized bases for mushroom production were built in institutions, enterprises and factories as well as in seats of provinces, cities and counties and farms across the country in conformity with their specific features, and mushrooms have become inseparable from the people's dietary life.

But there are few people who know how this gratifying reality has been created across the country.

Among the numerous anecdotes is a moving story about the respected General Secretary's visit to a farm in Anju City on one of the sultry summer days.

One day in June 2013, when the unprecedented heat of 32 degrees Celsius made it difficult to breathe, he visited the then Songhak Cooperative Farm in Anju City.

While looking round the farm, he was very pleased to hear from an official that the farm was cultivating mushrooms and said that he would go there.

As he reached greenhouse No. 4 through a narrow earth path, he kindly asked a farmer who was working in it whether mushrooms were cultivated in there.

When the farmer answered that mushrooms were not being cultivated at that time because it was summer, the respected General Secretary disappointedly said that the greenhouses should be managed properly so as to make people benefit from them substantially, adding that proper management of greenhouses is of great significance in overcoming the seasonality in vegetable production and supplying fresh vegetables to the people all the year round.

In fact, mushrooms could be cultivated throughout the year if their species, the materials, season and scale of cultivation and the production conditions were considered properly.

Not only the farmer but also the official who had boasted of the mushroom production in their farm hung down their heads in shame as they thought that mushroom production was impossible in summer.

Instead of reproaching them, however, the respected General Secretary inform them in detail of how to produce mushrooms in all seasons including summer.

He told the accompanying officials that the central authorities should send standardized greenhouse designs down to provinces, cities and counties to build greenhouses in conformity with the local climatic and soil conditions and put their production on a scientific and technological basis.

Before leaving the place, he said that vegetable greenhouses and mushroom cultivation grounds in the Songhak Cooperative Farm should be built in conformity with the sizes of farms and to be a standard, and those in the township of Anju City in conformity with the sizes of cities and counties and to be their standard, so that they could be shown to senior officials across the country to bring about a turn in the production of greenhouse vegetables and mushrooms.

Officials and working people in Anju City built greenhouses splendidly according to the standardized designs provided by the respected General Secretary and brought about innovations in mushroom production, bearing in mind his great love and trust.

With this as a momentum, brisk efforts were directed to bringing about a turn in mushroom production across the country, and, thus, the desire of Chairman Kim Jong Il to provide the people with tasty and nutritious mushrooms all the year round was translated into reality, thanks to the wise leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
