Dwelling house is the basic element of a harmonious family life. No matter how good diet is and no matter how plentiful consumer goods are, man cannot lead a stable life without a house. Moreover, as the era develops and the level of people's consciousness improves, their desire keeps increasing.
Reflecting the entire people's idea and desire to lead a civilized life in the best dwelling house, the Workers' Party of Korea announced it as its core policy on construction at the historic 8th Congress of the WPK to turn the DPRK into the first country to solve the problem of dwelling houses in the world and is carrying on campaigns for its realization one after another in a large way.
Being faced with the situation in which obstacles and difficulties are worse than ever before and in the high-tension struggle to carry out the great work of strengthening national power and promote innovative changes in several fields of state affairs, it is the great and courageous determination itself to conduct housing construction, not in one or two areas but in all parts of the country.
In particular, houses are built at the state expense and given to people free of charge in socialist Korea, which is the prerequisite to the huge economic burden of the state.
However, the WPK, putting forward its selfless devotion to the benefits of people as mode of existence, spares nothing for the building of ideal streets and villages in the capital and other local areas, thus providing people with homes of happiness and as days go by, pushing forward the building of modern houses in a bigger way.
Moving into new houses constantly all over the country shows the noble picture of the people-first policy unfolded only by the WPK that gives top priority to the benefit and convenience of people and makes it absolute in formulating and implementing all its policies.
Thanks to the wise leadership of the WPK, designing and building houses are being under way as desired by people in the DPRK.
Taechong-ri in Unpha County can be cited as an example. Dwelling houses neatly stand in rows, which have been built thoroughly as desired by farmers instead of materials needed for building or building site-saving.
As a matter of fact, it is remarkable that the state build houses for farmers at the same time, who have lost their homes and family properties owing to flood damage. But, not satisfying with it, the WPK ensured that houses should be built in a good way taking thought for inhabitants' desire.
Today, the WPK is pushing ahead with the rural construction dynamically. Under the energetic leadership of the Party, they fixed the party policy and law of the country of which the state should supply all cities and counties with cement needed for the building of farm houses on a regular basis every year, the execution of which is strongly guaranteed, and each region has formed its own building forces firmly.
The building of dwelling houses has been being accelerated in Pyongyang, the capital of the DPRK, and in 2023 alone, 10 000 flats under the 1st stage of Hwasong area and houses in Taephyong area were built, so that ceremonies for completion were held in a grand way there. Now many buildings are showing their magnificent appearance day by day at the building site of 10 000 flats under the 2nd stage of Hwasong area and the construction field of a new street in Sopho area.
In the DPRK, the building of houses serves as the process to create the wealth for improving the well-being of people and at the same time, as the process to carry out ideological education and cultural revolution for awakening people and leading them towards the bright future.
It is the greatest love for people to grow them into powerful beings. Since it encourages people to cherish a new dream and ideal, make strenuous efforts to put it into effect and take a progressive work attitude such as discovery, creation and innovation, the WPK's policy on construction is run through with the warm love for people, while being made the popular politics that embodies the people-first policy thoroughly.
It is the WPK's will to turn the country into the ideal socialist nation admired by the world, the socialist paradise where people lead a peaceful and harmonious life enjoying civilization by changing people's life environment radically across the country with the coming 20~30 years as deadline, which will be surely realized by the vigorous efforts of the entire Korean people who accept the Party's idea and politics as their own.
