Chairman Kim Jong Il said:
"If we make our country prosperous and improve the people's standard of living by conducting foreign trade on a wide scale and developing the economy, it will enhance the dignity of our nation."
On December 16, Juche 98(2009), Chairman Kim Jong Il paid a visit to a trading company in Rason notwithstanding the unprecedentedly severe cold weather. Having acquainted himself with the achievements made by this company in a short span of period, he led them step by step to look out over and march towards the world.
Dressed in an overall, he inspected several units of the company, giving the precious instructions to the officials to work hard cherishing ardent patriotism and national dignity in heart. He stressed that we should export the processed goods, never raw materials, saying that raw materials could be profitable only when they are sold in processed goods. Listening to his instructions, the officials were deeply impressed by his ardent patriotism.
That day, Chairman Kim Jong Il showed the officials the direction and ways which should be always taken in looking out over and launching into the world. He said that the company should not sell their products to one country exclusively, explaining that the developed countries set up multi-national corporations to produce and market their goods on a global scale. He emphasized the importance of foreign trade and said that it is an important economic lever and we should continuously expand and develop the foreign trade in order to further develop the amicable relation of cooperation with other countries. He stressed that we should never be inclined to a few countries in economic transactions but looks out over the world and launch into the world.
In order to do so, he continued, it is important to improve the quality of the exports and the quality of the exports is the prerequisite of getting trust in foreign trade and successful expansion of our market.
His teaching of that day was really a precious instruction which leads us to the world, compete with the world and beat the world.
