President
For many years the President has directed great efforts to developing poultry farming to realize the desire of the Korean people who wanted to eat rice with meat soup.
President
"A good way of providing the people with meat is to develop poultry farming."
In the grim Fatherland Liberation War, when the gunfire of war was howling, the President made a bold decision to turn the Kwangpho area into a prosperous poultry farming base for raising ducks and opened a new history of poultry farming in Korea.
In June, Juche 40 (1951), when most people were only worrying about the war, the President held a plenary meeting of the Cabinet even though he was busy guiding the complicated affairs of the front and the rear, and gave instructions to raise chickens, ducks and other poultry on a large scale in every province by using lakes, reservoirs, swamps and rivers.
In the difficult period when fierce battles were going on, the President planned to build a duck farm and sent a task force to the spot to conduct detailed investigation.
In the grim days decisive of the destiny of the country the President summoned several soldiers back from the war front and took measures to send them abroad so that they could learn poultry farming technology.
Those who visit Kwangpho admire the might of the Kwangpho Duck Farm, which has become a duck meat producing complex on the shore of the lake.
After the war a large-scale duck farm was built in the area which had been honeycombed with bomb pits, and the "muddy lake" which had been filled with filthy mud in the past has now become a lake of paradise.
In October, Juche 42 (1953), the happy feelings of the first autumn after the fireworks display of war victory began to prevail throughout the country.
On the shore of Lake Kwangpho, too, the heroic Korean people began to display the strong spirit of creation and construction for building a prosperous country.
No one imagined that President
In order to supply the people with duck meat by building the Kwangpho Duck Farm at an early date, the President boarded a small boat to look around Kwangpho area that had not yet had any duck-raising foundation and personally found the source of feedstuff and sent a plane to bring the seed duck eggs from a foreign country.
One deep night when the Orion's Belt was fading away he made a long distant call to the officials of the farm and taught them the way how to raise new breed of ducks.
Indeed, Kwangpho Duck Farm has turned into the largest duck production base under the warm love and wise leadership of the President
