The immortal exploits of the President who set forth the great program for finally solving the rural question under socialism for the first time in history and devoted his whole life to turn our countryside into a socialist land of bliss envied by the world are still touching our hearts.
Kindled the flames of the rural revolution in Chongsan-ri in order to make the countryside rich and bountiful, loving care of the President was also associated with Rihyon-ri.
The President attended a general meeting of the ri Party committee held on Jan. 23, Juche 50(1961) and listened carefully to Ri Sin Ja, an agitator of the 8th workteam, saying that Ri Sin Ja could be said to be the Kil Hwak Sil in Rihyon-ri, expressing great satisfaction over her communist traits.
The great leader said that she was indeed an excellent communist who helped others and solved the difficult problems of others, adding that the fundamentals of Party work was to educate, remodel and unite all the people.
And he highly appreciated that the achievements made by the Party members in educating and remodeling people in Rihyon-ri was more precious than gold or millions of tons of rice and could not be bartered for anything.
Visiting Rihyon-ri again later, he grasped about the work of the ri over the past year and praised the agricultural cooperative for its good crops, saying that a large area of paddy fields should be reclaimed so that all people can eat rice in the future. He also pictured how to cultivate land into rice paddy fields in a spiral way on the sloping lands.
Having instructed the prospects of development of the farm, he also said that farming should be done in a scientific and technological way in the future, adding that technical innovations should be made so as to enable the farmers to sow, harvest and thresh, so that they can work like the workers. He then sat on the rice straw sheaf and laying it in the middle of the yard and took the measures on variety of things from overall farming work to firewood and child education in families.
When visiting the Rihyon Cooperative Farm again in November Juche 51(1962), the great leader met Ri Sin Ja, chairman of the management board, and praised up her for her achievements, saying with great satisfaction that she turned the "Mangja valley" into a bumper harvest valley.
Encouraging her work, he stressed the need to raise good crops, expand orchards and mechanize all the work from sowing to harvesting in order to turn Rihyon-ri into a more affluent and cultured countryside.
Acquainting himself with the composition of the farmers in the ri, President encouraged them saying he would send the young people who could become hard core in the countryside to work. Afterwards, he granted benefits of sending more than 50 discharged soldiers there to help them build up the key strongpoint in the countryside.
As a result, Rihyon-ri, formerly called "Manja valley", was turned into a bumper harvest valley, an enviable place to live under the scrupulous guidance and efforts of the great leader.
