The DPRK faced hardship which can be called the greatest ever upheaval since its foundation after maintaining a stable epidemic prevention situation for two years and three months in the face of the malignant epidemic causing a world-sweeping public health crisis.
At that moment when everybody at loss what to do about it only worried about severity of the crisis,
On the early morning of May 12, 2022, as soon as the fact that the virus made inroads into our country was confirmed, the respected General Secretary convened a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK and clearly set the strategic and tactical directions including the switching the national epidemic prevention work over to a top-level emergency anti-epidemic system and thoroughly blockading the whole country city by city and county by county to secure victory in the anti-epidemic war.
In the meeting, the General Secretary said that the enemy that is more dangerous than COVID-19 to us was the unscientific fear, weakness and pessimism, and expressed his firm conviction that we would surely win in the anti-epidemic work since we have high sense of organization deriving from the unity of the Party, Government, and people armed with high level of political awareness and voluntary unity of action formed during the protracted period of the struggle against the epidemic. And he took concrete measures to mobilize the reserve medicines which had been stored by the Party and Government for such emergencies and also detailed countermeasures to stabilize the people's livelihood and minimize the inconveniences and sufferings of the people under the blockade.
At night of May 12, 2022, he visited the State Emergency Epidemic Prevention Headquarters and elucidated that our Party's decision, will, strategies and tactics to lead the war against the pandemic to victory, as he said that reversing the current public health crisis as soon as possible, restoring the stability in epidemic prevention, and safeguarding the health and well-being of our people were major challenges to our Party and its supreme task as well.
Two days later, on May 14, the respected General Secretary organized the consultative meeting of Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK, in which he clarified all the detailed practical issues relevant to the prompt distribution of reserve medicines to be urgently released in line with the demands of the top-level emergency anti-epidemic system and also ways and approaches to minimize the number of deaths by applying the scientific treatment methods to the different fever cases including those with idiosyncrasy.
In the meeting, the respected General Secretary expressed his strong will of sacrificing himself for the people, saying that we should think about the reason what we are for, and for what and for whom we should dedicate even our lives, and our Party would courageously shoulder its crucial duty and take full responsibility for the security of the country and well-being of our people.

The respected General Secretary organized a consultative meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the WPK again on 15 May, in which a special order of the Central Military Commission of the WPK was issued to urgently stabilize the medicine supply in Pyongyang by committing the powerful forces of the medical sector of the People's Army.
Just after the consultative meeting was over, he visited some pharmacies in Pyongyang to familiarize himself with the state of medicine delivery and sales and pointed to the need to remedy the defects in the medicine supply system and took practical measures related to the transport of medicines.
Afterwards, he convened several important meetings of the Party in succession to take all possible measures to save the people's lives and to ensure their conveniences and benefit as much as possible.
The Korean people watched and witnessed in tears almost every day the respected General Secretary making devoted efforts for the people through the mass media, keenly felt once again his fatherly affection and hardened their conviction that victory in the ongoing anti-epidemic war is definite as long as they are led by him.
Greatly inspired by his leadership of self-sacrifice for the people, all the Koreans across the DPRK turned out as one in the great anti-epidemic war. All cities, towns, and counties were simultaneously blockaded and work, production and living units were cut off from one another. Millions of doctors and people in various sectors were engaged in hygienic publicity, medical screening and examination, and treatment and even the medics of the Korean Peoples' Army were urgently committed to the campaign. As medicines were supplied and treatment was carried out as quickly as possible for fever cases, the nationwide anti-epidemic situation became stabilized with successful management in less than 20 days after the top-level emergency anti-epidemic system was put in place.
This winning trend achieved in the emergency anti-epidemic war is the fruition of the immortal leadership of self-sacrifice for the people provided by the respected General Secretary who exerts himself on the first frontline for defending the people.
