The anti-Japanese war heroine Comrade Kim Jong Suk was the person who was boundlessly loyal to the great leader Comrade
In the harsh period of the anti-Japanese war, Comrade Kim Jong Suk had thorough revolutionary faith that the destiny of revolution depended on defending the revolutionary headquarters, and therefore, she defended the safety of the great leader by making herself human shield and bomb in the fierce battle fields.

The attack on Fusong county town on August 17, 1936, was one of the typical battles in which Comrade Kim Jong Suk defended the safety of the great leader with a do-or-die spirit in the period of the anti-Japanese war.
The attack on Fusong county town was very significant to gain absolute supremacy over the enemy in the northwest area at Mt. Paektu and to march towards the southwest.
Fusong county was a place of military importance where the enemy put greater importance compared to other county towns around Mt. Paektu. And there it had special armed forces such as Kwantung Army, puppet Manchukuo army and police forces, as well as the Takahashi's crack unit which was allegedly trained in actual fighting. The enemy had heavy machine guns and mortars and there were ten high fortresses around the town.
The attack on Fusong county town started at 2 a.m.
At that time, the 7th regiment was in charge of main attack.
As soon as the attack order was given, taking the lead of the 7th regiment, Comrade Kim Jong Suk approached the eastern fortress secretly and captured the guards there without firing a shot.
Comrade Kim Jong Suk advanced towards Xiaonanmen with regiment.
It was not till then that the enemy knew the fact that the KPRA units were advancing against them, so they resisted stubbornly with all their armed forces.
The great leader foresaw that the battle would be protracted, and moved the command post near Xiaonanmen. He summoned Comrade Kim Jong Suk and instructed her to take up the col under the hill situating in a place where the enemy would not see the smoke from the cooking fires.
Col was the only one spot for the regiment to withdraw from the county town to the hill.
So defending this spot well became very important for the security of the great leader and successful guarantee of regiment's following action.
Piercing such importance of the col, Comrade Kim Jong Suk arrived there with women guerrillas and organized guard and immediately prepared breakfast.
At that time, the Chinese anti-Japanese units which had attacked from the east and north of the county town encountered stubborn resistance, and retreated, drawing the enemy towards Xiaonanmen where the command post was placed.
The battle for Xiaonanmen became fiercer unexpectedly and an unfavourable situation was created owing to the disorderly retreat.
The great leader was resolved to lure the enemy out of the walled town and destroy them by withdrawing the unit onto the eastern hill and the ridges of Xiaomalugou.
Being deceived by his tactics, the enemy opened the gate in the defensive wall and ran out.
An enemy platoon rushed to occupy the col.
If the enemy occupied the col, the regiment would be blocked and the command post would be trapped in a dangerous situation.
The platoon reached the front line where the women guerrillas placed and prepared to block the retreat of the KPRA unit coming from Xiaonanmen.
Comrade Kim Jong Suk always thought about the security of the command post at first even in the fierce battle situation, and pierced that if the enemy occupied the col and climbed the eastern hill, her regiment would be blocked and the command post might become dangerous.
Comrade Kim Jong Suk appealed to the other women guerrillas: "All of us must be ready to risk our lives. Let's ensure the security of the great leader at the cost of our lives" and killed the machine-gunner of the enemy with the first shot from her Mauser.
The other women guerrillas then fired a volley of bullets.
The enemy, who were attacked suddenly, got confused and fired blank shots. However, they scented that there were just a few KPRA female guerrillas and charged shouting. The enemy rushed cruelly because they also recognized that the destiny of the battle depended on who would occupy the col.
Comrade Kim Jong Suk rained straight shots on the enemy, holding Mauser in both hand.
"Let's defend the headquarters with our lives!"
The appeal that Comrade Kim Jong Suk shouted from the bottom of her heart echoed through the mountain resonantly.
Women guerrillas were encouraged by her ardent appeal and rained fire on the enemy like a lion at bay.
The enemy officer, who was forcing the soldiers out to attack hiding behind the tree, fell down with the shot from her Mauser.
This brought confusion to the enemy and at that time the 4th company of the 7th Regiment came running up and annihilated the enemy completely by cross fire.
In the meantime, the main force withdrew safely and laid in ambush to totally destroy the chasing enemies.
In this way, the safety of headquarters was ensured and the battle ended to victory as the col was defended by the self-sacrificing struggle of Comrade Kim Jong Suk and other women guerrillas.
