The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un decided to build a large scale greenhouse farm in Kangdong area and set it as a major construction task in the historic 6th plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea. He became the master of initiation, operation and construction and led the construction step by step starting with the selection of the site, the arrangement of construction labor and the supply of materials. He gave dozens of precious teachings on the construction of the comprehensive greenhouse including the introduction of spherical and multi-layered vegetable growing facilities as well as establishing intelligent integrated production system. Furthermore he personally selected and sent agriculture-related up-to-date technological materials. As seen above, he gave a meticulous guidance on all the issues arising in the construction of the greenhouse.

Thanks to his guidance and care, there emerged "the city of greenhouses" and "the city of farmers" which is comprised of over 1050 buildings of contemporary vegetable greenhouses of different sorts, production and public buildings, dwelling houses with the total floor space of 1.2 million m2 and 260 hectares of floor space.
