A Song Unique to Our Country

The song "We Are the Happiest in the World" is an all-people song which is most loved and widely sung by all our people.

With the value of this masterpiece as an artistic symbol of our people's life and Korean-style socialism, Chairman Kim Jong Il said in his early years that it is a song unique to our people-centered socialism, our country and our fatherland, and such a wonderful song could be created only in our country.

"We Are the Happiest in the World", a song unique to our country!

This was the shout of sincerity that highly represented the iron truth which our people created and proved through their life experience.

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

"The song, We are the Happiest in the World, which our people and our children are fond of singing, is a very good song which directly portrays today's happiness of our people under the benevolent care of the leader, as well as their boundless reverence for him and gratitude."

The song "We Are the Happiest in the World" which was born as a gift of boundless loyalty of the people to the Fourth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea in Juche 50 (1961) is regarded as an all-people hymn enjoyed by the people of the whole country still now after the lapse of over half a century.

It is the song that all the people across the country, irrespective of age and sex, are eager to sing when they are glad and happy and even when they have difficulties and challenges.

There are more than 200 countries in the world and every country has their own songs.

But there is no country on the earth where all the people of a country have a song which represents their life with no need to envy anyone in the whole world with one mind and one desire, the theme song of the people's life which will be resounded forever.

Our people sang proudly about their happiness as they led a life without envy in the world under the great love of the President.

The children sang this song, looking up to the President who regarded them as the kings of the country and bestowed all sorts of loving care on them as their father, and the people sang the song of pride of having President Kim Il Sung as their father who provided them with the most valuable life in the world.

The fatherly leader Kim Il Sung, who had special love for the children and plucked a star from the heavens for the people's happiness and joy, forgot all his worldly cares and was very happy when the children and people sang "We Are the Happiest in the World".

The President was smiling brightly when the song resounded on the stage of schoolchildren's New Year performance and he would sing this song even when he was excited to see the rich cooperative field.

In the days of the anti-Japanese war, the President had already an idea of building a people-first state in which the working peoples were the master of all property such as factories or land and took responsible for the food, clothing, education and medical service for all the people after liberation. Talking about his idea, the President assured that the world people would visit our country to see and envy at that time. The President devoted his all to the people's happy life singing the song-"We Are the Happiest in the World" from the heart.

The song "We Are the Happiest in the World" which was sung for the happiness of the people by the President and was sung in praise of his benevolence by people was a song of single-hearted unity and devotion in which the leader and the people formed one.

That is why our people sang this song not only on happy days but also during severe trials.

The mid-1990s was a period of severe trials and arduous march for our people.

The world people never thought that the Korean people would sing the song "We Are the Happiest in the World" while chewing grass roots and tightening their belts in the arduous days when not only the destiny of socialism but also the destiny of every family and every human being on this land was threatened.

As the Korean people cherished the socialist country which the President liberated through the bloody anti-Japanese struggle and established through arduous struggle as a precious faith more than their lives, they invariably sang this song firmly united around the great General and surpassed the trials for defending socialism.

In those days, the song "The Blue Sky over My Country" frequently enjoyed by the great General on the road to the front and the song "The General goes to the Front, Children to the Camp" sung by the Korean people with deep emotion at the great efforts of the great General are associated with all sorts of stories that made us sing the song "We Are the Happiest in the World" even in the grim trials.

Even when the people were shedding bitter tears of bitterness as forsaken orphans in the countries where socialism collapsed, it was only our country, Korean-style socialism centered on the popular masses which praised the leader and the party as their father and mother, formed a harmonious whole integrity between the leader and the people and lived harmoniously like a single-family.

The song "We Are the Happiest in the World" sung by the Korean people under the care of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il is now resounding higher amid the wise leadership and warm love of the respected General Secretary.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, in his New Year Address for Juche 106 (2017), solemnly pledged to work with devotion to ensure that the past era when all the people used to sing the song "We Are the Happiest in the World", feeling optimistic about the future with confidence in the great Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, does not remain as a moment in history but is re-presented in the present era and to become a true servant loyal to our people who faithfully supports them with a pure conscience.

The respected General Secretary set it as our Party's policy to supply nutritive food to all children across the country and set it as the eternal state policy of the DPRK to which we should give top priority to providing students with school uniforms unconditionally.

This was a pivotal decision of love associated with the noble outlook on the rising generations of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is bringing about bright future of the country true to the intention of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who loved the children while regarding them as kings of the country and giving them everything all their lives.

It is our Party's determination and will to make our children and people lead a happy life without envy in the world and thus make their happy laughter and hurrah for the Workers' Party resound far and wide.

The respected General Secretary said that we should make the song "We Are the Happiest in the World" resound on this land forever in the future, too, and continues the road of devotion to the people to translate the ideal of the people into reality with the noble outlook on life that there is nothing more to be desired even if he is to be torn to pieces for the people.

"We Are the Happiest in the World" is a song unique to Korea which can be sung only in our socialist country where the leader is a friendly father of the people and the people have a single desire to repay the benevolence of the leader being blessed with their leaders generation after generation.
