"Comrade Kim Il Sung was a great man with ennobling character and virtue."

The great leader visited Yaksugol on September 18th, Juche 43(1954) before giving the guidance to Changsong County.

The great leader visited Sangri shop first to get firsthand information on the livelihood of the people there.

The shop manager told him that there was no great improvement of farmers' living but workers' living was getting better. So he visited worker's house who worked in the forestry station.

At home he had a small box and two old quilts on it and he was supplied with rice from the state.

He stalked up and down the yard saying how poor the others would be even the richest life was like this.

To get more detailed information mountain farmers' life, he visited one house in Jung-ri.

Knowing that they ate boiled corn as a meal, he was very sad.

Thereafter, to get firsthand information on the livelihood of farmers, he talked with the farmers who was weeding in the field and opened the school children's lunch box.

And then to get information, he talked with the oldest men all night.

Furthermore, he visited Kanam primary school(then), he grasped the teachers' living situation, school children's clothes and shoes and even school things.

One day towards the end of August, Juche 44(1955), the great leader called the functionaries in Yaksugol, he asked them how many houses and people were there, how large was the land and what kind of animals and how many they had.

One day, he called at one shop, seeing the wild peaches in the counter, he asked what kind of wild fruits were there in this area, and how much they could pick and he called at a farmhouse, seeing the acorns in the yard, he asked how much were a mal of acorns and how much they could pick in a year.

And then, he said that the income would be great if they sold the wild fruits.

This was not all.

Soon after that, the great leader left there in the early morning with the old man who lived on hunting wild animals and gathering the herbs for a long time.

Looking round the functionaries who did not find the special counterplan, the great leader told them that mountains should be properly exploited in mountainous regions and they had to make good use of the sea in costal regions. He told them that to improve the livelihood of the mountain farmers, they should make good use of the mountain to develop the stock raising.

And then he told them to do a side job well. They should pick wild fruits and edible grass a lot and gather firewood. And he taught them to make hampers and chairs, make the handles of hammers, axes, and picks with good trees and catch the fish, plant the fruit trees and do the silkworm a lot.

Thereafter, the great leader knew that the farmers there had little asset to buy even a calf and then he sent a lot of breed goats and he exempted the tax in kind and returning loan grain. And he took a national measure to sell the poor peasants cloth, cotton and enamel plates at a moderate price.
