On Sep, 25th, Juche 101(2012), the 6th session of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly was held under the guidance of the respected Comrade
He expressed his approval to the promulgation of the law "On the enforcement of the universal 12-year compulsory educational system" by lifting up his ID card of the deputy to the Supreme People's Assembly, which produced a deep impression on the Korean and the world people.

This was clearly expressive of his noble outlook on the growing generations, the future and the motherland. He has adhered unchangeably to the great leaders' ideology of giving priority to the new generations and enriched it more and more.
The new universal 12-year compulsory educational system is the most just and superior educational one to train the new generations to be the Juche-typed revolutionary talents with rich secondary middle general knowledge, modern basic technical knowledge and creative ability by improving decisively the quality of education according to the practical requirement of the educational development and the world trend in the knowledge-based economic era.
This system consists of one-year pre-school education, 5-year one at the primary school, 3-year one at the junior middle school and 3-year one at the senior middle school in order to provide the new generations with rich general basic knowledge and modern basic technical knowledge. So it is the highest level of complete compulsory education system.
The compulsory term of education is one of the important indexes to show the educational development level of the country. In the world, there are about 200 countries that announced legally their compulsory education. In these countries, their compulsory term of education ranges from 3 to 12 years, in most of which it is about 8 to 11 years involving the primary education and the first-stage secondary education.
The universal 12-year compulsory educational system of the DPR Korea is equal and open to everyone based on the complete free education.
The compulsory educational system is practically ensured only when being based on the free educational system. Even if the legal rights to get education were specified, without freeing the working masses from the burden of fees, it would be none other than a white elephant.
In the DPR Korea, free education dates back to April, Juche 48(1959), in which it was instituted at all the schools. It began the brilliant tradition of our socialist educational system, which ensured all the growing generations can get equal access to 12-year free education under the financial support of the state. That makes our educational system the most popular and superior.
During the universal 12-year compulsory education, the students acquire rich secondary general knowledge and modern basic technical knowledge to use in practice without paying money and cultivate their creative ability to work independently in the society after the graduation from the middle school. In particular, since the education and edification are made according to the student's growth characteristics, mental qualities, character building characteristics and political organization life characteristics, every student has the occasion to train themselves to be a Juche-typed revolutionary talent in the ideological, spiritual, moral and physical aspects.
As shown above, the universal 12-year compulsory educational system is the high level complete compulsory educational system of giving all the growing generations the education until reaching the working age and also the most popular and superior free educational system where all the costs are paid by the state.
Although there are the several types of educational systems in the world, there is no system to train the growing generations to be the believable backbone of the Juche revolutionary cause with the noble spirit and rich knowledge like our universal 12-year compulsory educational system.
There is a saying that the prosperity of the country depends on how to educate the children.
The new generations, the growing children are the heirs to the Korean revolution and represent the future of the country and nation.
The prospect of the revolution and the ups and downs of the country and nation depend on how to train the new generations.
The great leaders set the education of the new generations as the important matter of deciding the prosperity and destiny of the country and nation and paid all of their mental efforts to the training of the revolutionary talents in every stage of the development of the Korean revolution. The policy of putting priority to the growing generations and to the education has been implemented unchangeably under the wise leadership of the respected Comrade
In the past, many countries regarded education as their weapons for the development of their nation and put efforts for the education but there was no country whose education was always put importance to under the deep care of the Party and state like the DPR Korea.
