Koryo Medical Department №1, Pyongyang Medical College, Kim Il Sung University is one that teaches diagnostics and internal medicine to the students of Koryo medical faculty to give them the modern medical outlook on the disease.
Our chair have tried to train the students of Koryo medical faculty to become competent medical workers upholding the instructions of the great leaders, to combine diagnosis of modern medicine and treatment of Koryo medicine and to put Koryo medicine on the scientific basis, and teachings of the respected comrade
The teaching and scientific work in charge have been in great progress in our department.
Out of this speciality, we concentrate on the research work to put the advantages and methods of Koryo therapy on the scientific basis, based on modern medical diagnosis.
All the teachers in the department have achieved good successes in the research work to treat diseases by the method of Koryo therapy such as Koryo drugs and acupuncture in the past.
More than 30 theses which have been studied and reported by the chair including "the Study on the Effect of the Extract from Gingco Leaf on Antitussive Action in Diseases of the Respiratory System Including Bronchitis", "the Clinical Study to Treat Hypertension by Massage Treatment combined with 1/f Fluctation Stimulation Therapy at In Yong (ST9)and Su Sam Li(LT10)"and "the Study on the Effect of Polygoni Multiflori Radix Lipid-Lowering Granules on Hypercholesterolemia" have greatly contributed to put the advantages and methods of Koryo therapy on the scientific basis.
For many years we have done the studies on the effect of a complex of chitosan, isoniazid, rifampicin on antibacterial function, to apply the effect of mixing some drugs and chitosan to treatment of the infectious diseases and had good results.
The results showed that the complex of C.R.H has a stronger inhibitive ability than the complex of R.H on the standard TB colony of H37RV and TB colony separated from the samples of patients with TB.
And the complex of C.R had a stronger antibacterial abilities than R on Staphylococcus209-P, Escherichia coliO111, Pseudomonas aeruginosaⅡ-3, Bacillus subtills ATCC6633 and their persistence.
On the basis of the above mentioned results we have treated TEP by combining chitosan with R.H of lower doses than the doses in treatment for tuberculosis and in consequence the effective rate was higher(92.2%) than that of standard therapy for tuberculosis.(78.2%)
We also have done the study to treat the functional dyspepsia, one of diseases with high incidence and recurrent rate and difficult to treat by the Body Surface Electrical Stimulation(BSES) and have gained good results.
For the scientific and research work, we developed "Electrogastrogram Recoding and Analising Program", which was highly praised in the several exhibitions including the exhibition of the Public Health Ministry and has been used effectively for curing the patients.
In future we will have various scientific interchange with other countries to extend the bounds of research work and we hope to exchange good experiences with each other in the field of clinical therapy.
