Chairman Kim Jong Il said:
"The important principle to which we must adhere in carrying them forward is to defend and uphold the revolutionary traditions created by the leader in their pure form, and develop their valuable and rich contents comprehensively down through generations."
Our Party's glorious revolutionary traditions are the deep and strong historical roots of the Party and the revolution and the bloodline linking their lifeline.
In the proud history of the WPK which has won with the revolutionary traditions of Mt. Paektu as the weapon for the victory, there is a story about a map kept by Chairman Kim Jong Il in those days when he was surmounting the primitive forests of the world.
He marched round the revolutionary battle sites and revolutionary sites in Ryanggang Province including Pochonbo, Samjiyon and Mt. Paektu from the first day he came to the northern frontier with noble intention to firmly defend and glorify the revolutionary traditions more than 50 years ago, but during the nights, he spent tense hours at his office.
One day, the veteran fighter of the anti-Japanese war who entered his room, led by the night light, could not take his eyes off the map full of red and blue symbols, marked around the revolutionary sites and revolutionary battle sites across the country.
Then, Chairman Kim Jong Il told the veteran fighter that he visited the revolutionary battle sites and historic sites along the map and found that there were revolutionary battle sites and revolutionary sites anywhere in our country, starting from Mt. Paektu.
The veteran fighter came to know that Chairman Kim Jong Il so much valued the sacred traces of the President and was so determined to carry forward the revolutionary traditions of Mt. Paektu that he even carried the map with himself and devoted his all.
That day Chairman Kim Jong Il declared that the march of the Korean revolution started in the forest of Mt. Paektu would continue despite the change of generations, reflecting his firm faith and will to bring about the rosy future of the Korean revolution by steadfastly carrying forward the bloodline of the revolutionary traditions.
After looking round the revolutionary battle sites in Ryanggang Province, Chairman Kim Jong Il said that he could no longer bury the traces of history left by the fighters in the flames of the anti-Japanese war, adding that it is the duty of the people of this country who live without the grief of a ruined nation thanks to the cost of blood shed by them and that it is the first task of the revolutionaries of the new generation who should take over the baton of the revolution from the veteran fighters.
The firm faith and bold decision of Chairman Kim Jong Il to carry forward the revolutionary traditions of our Party in a pure way brought about a radical turn in the construction of revolutionary battle sites and revolutionary sites, thus turning the whole country into a school of education in the revolutionary traditions.
