A Story about How those Disposed of Turned out to be Patriots

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

In Ryongchon County, North Phyongan Province, there is a legendary tale in which more than 420 family members of those who committed crimes against the people and were executed during the Fatherland Liberation War turned into families of patriotic martyrs at one time thanks to politics of benevolence and trust of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

In October Juche 73 (1984), Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the Ragwon Machine Factory (then) to see the large oxygen separator which was nearing its completion, and learned that there were comrades with complicated family backgrounds among the workers and technicians who contributed to the production of oxygen separator, and gave them all his deep trust and showed such benevolence that they were honored by becoming the members of the Workers' Party of Korea.

At that time, a senior official in the province, who was among his entourage, was so shocked that he told Chairman Kim Jong Il about the peculiar composition of inhabitants in Ryongchon County.

In Ryongchon County there were an exceptionally large number of families of those who committed crimes against the fatherland and were executed during the period of strategic temporary retreat.

But most of them were workers and peasants.

The official investigated several times, but it was a stark fact.

Upon receiving such a report from an official, Chairman Kim Jong Il said that we had to investigate again those who had been executed in Ryongchon County during the period of strategic temporary retreat of the Fatherland Liberation War. He said that it was hard to believe that hundreds of inhabitants had been executed during this period as they were opposed to the DPRK, and that almost all of them were said to be workers and peasants, and that so many people, who were poor in the past, could not commit crimes against fatherland and people.

Noting that the fact is more unbelievable when he considers that Ryongchon County is an area which the enemy failed to occupy during the period of strategic temporary retreat of the Fatherland Liberation War, Chairman Kim Jong Il said that Ryongchon County is where famous Jangsan-ri is situated, which gave pleasure and satisfaction to President Kim Il Sung who were on the road of field guidance during the grim Fatherland Liberation War. He affirmed that there couldn't be hundreds of betrayers in this county.

With absolute trust in the people in Ryongchon County, the Chairman said that the case was a serious matter related to the political integrity of the people and that it should be solved without interruption even though it will take ten or twenty years, adding that we should insist on the philosophy of trust that we believe in the people so absolutely that even one enemy can take advantage of distrust.

Thanks to the noble love of the Chairman who placed absolute trust in the people, comprehensive investigation was conducted again.

After all, the officials scientifically revealed that the group of enemy spies disguised as "security officers" swayed in the area of Ryongchon County, killing many rural hard cores and innocent inhabitants with the sinister aim of creating discord and antagonism among the people.

Upon being reported this fact, the Chairman proclaimed all hundreds of inhabitants who had lived in agony for decades as patriotic martyrs killed by the enemy and took a benevolent step to confer certificates of martyrs on each member of their families.

Thanks to the benevolent politics of the Chairman defending the people with the treasured sword of "trust", the political integrity of hundreds of people in Ryongchon could be reborn on this land and the mass foundation of our Party was further consolidated.
