The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung said;

"Mt Kumgang is indeed a celebrated mountain of the world as well as a celebrated mountain of Korea."

From olden times Mt.Kumgang has been well-known as a celebrated mountain not only to Korea but also to the world for all kinds of its forms and figures and songs and stories.But it had lost its beauty and faced its dark fortune in its suffering past.

Today Mt.Kumgang is now making well known in the world as a world scenic spot thanks to the peerlessly great persons

President Kim Il Sung, during his visit to Mt.Kumgang in October, 1948, came in front of Taeung Temple, after looking around Haegumgang Area, Kuryong Pool, Manseru of Singye Shrine and Stone Tower. Having looked around all historic relics like Buddhist Statues, he gave his teachings to manage the temple in good order as one of the Korean nation's cultural relics which reflects the good architectural technology of Korean ancestors, although Buddhist is not encouraged in our country.

Looking around Hwajin Pond and Kuryong Pool one after another, he said that Mt.Kumgangwas really a noted mountain in the world and that this beautiful mountain should be built into a cultural recreation ground for working people so as to enjoy the magnificent view of Mt.Kumgang.

Hewas very deeply concerned for building Mt.Kumgangeven during the difficult period after the warin which everything was reduced to ashes.

And soon after the Korean Liberation War he established Kumgangsan Pleasure Park Management Agency and sent a large amount of raw materials and money and also sent various kinds of saplings including 72 bamboo ones he personally planted and grew in his house.

Visiting Mt.Kumgang once again in August, Juche 62(1973), he made a devoted effort for 3 consecutive days to build it into a cultural recreation area for the working people, personally becoming a tourist.

On these occasions, he corrected officials' wrong viewpoints for renaming the peaks and rocks of Mt.Kumgang, unreasonably calling a lot of legendary stories as what they called "Buddhism", and "Superstition" and insisting on getting rid of restorationism without any consideration on the beauty of Mt.Kumgang.

As a result of the pains taken by the President not minding the summer heat, the rest homes and hotels, modern pleasure and welfare service amenities including the outdoor theatrewere built inKumgangsan area, and thus enabling our people to enjoy their pleasure to the fullest measure.

On his long path of Songun, the great General Kim Jong Il saw the sunrise from the Piro Peak of Mt.Kumgang on September 12, Juche 95(2006). On that day he looked back to the devoted efforts of President Kim Il Sung who visited Mt. Kumgang several times during his lifetime to create the conditions for our people to enjoy their good cultural lives and to glorify Mt.Kumgang as the beautiful mountain of people.

Hearing the explanation of the topography of Mt.Kumgang, General Kim Jong Il said that wonderful houses in beautiful places should be built and the touring roads be built up in good shape and modern facilities for good sightseeing be equipped for our people to enjoy their recreation. Listening to him, the officials looked back to the devoted efforts of the great General to build Mt.Kumganginto a better world-class beauty spot through his visit to it several times.

That day witnessing the wonderful reality in which the sunrise of Mt. Kumgang, which had been only for the wealthy people in the past, was now the sunrise of the people thanks to having the great general, the officials who accompanied him were very deeply impressed with his passionate love for the country and with his endless self-devotion to making our people the most dignified and the happiest in the world with the sunrise of a powerful state.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un has continued to think of satisfying the cultural and emotional requirements of our people on the highest level by effectively developing the beauty spots of our country in a diversified and peculiar way.

He visited Kumgangsan area on October 22, Juche 108(2019) with the idea to rebuild Mt.Kumgang, which has been well-known as one of the most beautiful mountains in the world for its greatest beauty from old times, as a comprehensive international tourism area where people from our country and the rest of the world can enjoy as they want.

Saying that although our country has a lot of beauty spots, Mt.Kumgang is regarded as a combination of all beauties for its beautiful natural landscapes, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un set forth detailed tasks for developing modern cultural sightseeing areas in Kumgangsan area forour peopleso as to enjoy the natural beauty of our country.

Stressing that architecture is one of thecriterion visually showing the civilization of the country and the nation, and the development of the society, he also said that all buildings should be constructed with the developed architectural fashion combined with the typical character of our national architectural style forpeople from other countriesso as to see the architectures of Korea as well as the celebrated mountain.
