Patriotic Devotion to Green Woods

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"Patriotism is the noble spirit of valuing every tree in the country and devoting one's sweat and sincerity to tending it, and one's patriotic feeling develops while he plants and tends every single tree."

General Secretary is invariably carrying forward the noble patriotic determination of President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il, who worked heart and soul to turn the mountains of the country into thick woodlands and gold mountain. His noble world of loyalty and patriotism are enshrined deep in the minds of our people along with the green woods of the country.

On March 2, Juche 101(2012), the respected General Secretary did a commemorative tree-planting with service personnel of the People's Army on the road of his inspection of the front. Saying that March 2 is a historic anniversary when President Kim Il Sung personally mounted Moran Hill together with the anti-Japanese war heroine Comrade Kim Jong Suk and General Kim Jong Il and kindled the first torch of tree-planting for the eternal development and prosperity of the country, and that it is also a tree-planting day in our country, he headed toward where the monument to the on-site teachings of the great Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il stood to plant Picea Koraiensis and lily magnolias.

Seeing the pits that had already been dug, he said that when planting trees, pits should be dug by the planter himself. Awakening the officials to their formalism-guided mistake, he spent hours far beyond lunchtime planting trees. He implanted sense of genuine patriotism loving even a single tree and grass of the country deep into the minds of soldiers of the People's Army.

One month later, on April 27, Juche 101(2012), the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un published immortal classic work "On Bringing about a Revolutionary Turn in Land Administration in Line with the Demands for Building a Thriving Socialist Country", thus indicating detailed orientation and ways for turning the whole country into a thick woodland and greenery through afforestation and administration.

He visited the Central Tree Nursery on November 10, Juche 103(2014) and recalled the patriotic dedication made by the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il who loved the land of the country like his own flesh all his life. He said that forest restoration campaign is an important political work for implementing the teachings of the great Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, and supreme patriotic work for the prosperity of the country and posterity to come. He earnestly called for bringing about innovation in the afforestation and administration and turning all the bare mountains into flourishing gold and treasure mountain within a decade, holding that it is the fixed stand and determination of the Party.

There is no way to step back now, with denuded mountains left intact, he said, calling for mounting forest restoration campaign, considering it as a war with the nature, just as the whole country emerged from heap of ashes during the post-war rehabilitation period. Saying that he would direct the campaign as its commander, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un powerfully aroused the whole Party and army and all the people to the campaign. On February 26, Juche 104(2015) he opened to public his immortal classical work "Let the Entire Party, the Whole Army and All the People Conduct a Vigorous Forest Restoration Campaign to Cover the Mountains of the Country with Green Woods" and made sure all people across the country are motivated to display their patriotism.

He put forward the patriotic slogan "Let the whole Party, the entire army and all the people work hard to restore the forests!" and saw to it that a joint resolution of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and the Supreme Headquarters of the Korean People's Army on conducting a vigorous forest restoration campaign with the involvement of the entire Party, the entire army and all the people was adopted. Then he organized and wisely led the campaign as a mass movement.

On a tree-planting day in March, Juche 104(2015) he visited a unit of the Air and Anti-Air Force of the KPA. There he said that all the mountains should turn into gold and treasure mountain in the coming decade true to the patriotic cause of the great Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il who boundlessly loved the land of the country. He set the sites of planting junipers, silvery Picea Koraiensis, metasequoia glyptostroboides and gingko trees which he brought himself before planting them with combat pilots.

Planting trees holding a spade himself, he instructed on the issues for scientific and technical planting including digging pits, watering, earth tamping and spreading of wooden supports. He stressed the need for the pilots and servicepersons to intensify forest restoration campaign, with fully aware that they are creating the treasure of the country and the happiness of posterity.

Visiting Tree Nursery No. 122 of the Korean People's Army in December that year, the respected General Secretary called for planting and tending every tree with sincerity, looking far into the green mountains of the country, though it might be difficult today. Our future generations will greatly benefit from the green mountains of the country, he said, adding that they would appreciate our Party's policy of setting tree-planting as an important state affair and strategic goal.

On March 2, Juche 106(2017) he visited Mangyongdae Revolutionary School and called on students of the school, successors of the revolution and its future backbones, to take the lead in tree-planting. He said that patriotism is not an abstract concept but a noble spirit of valuing even a single tree of the country and devoting their sweat and sincerity to tending it. He stressed the need to lead students to devote their sincerity and energy to tree-planting with the extraordinary awareness that they should plant their clear conscience and patriotism before planting trees and with the determination to become roots and initial manure for the green mountains.

Turning ever green is the land of the country under the guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who set the forest restoration as the most important political work for implementing the behests of the great leaders and made sure tree nurseries are built in different parts of the country and led the campaign for turning the mountains of the country into thick woodlands.

Our Korean people, devoting ourselves with patriotism in mountains of the country are firmly convinced that all the mountains will certainly turn into gold and treasure mountains before long thanks to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

Indeed, his enthusiastic patriotism and great devotion have become roots and nutrients for the socialist paradise full of flowers, and the history of green woods associated with patriotism for ever-lasting prosperity of the country will shine long as immortal exploits to be recorded in the history of the country.
