A Story of Love Told by a Fruit-Processing Factory

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

"The respected leader Comrade Kim Il Sung was the benevolent father of our people, who cherished the warmest love for them."

The history of the revolutionary activities of President Kim Il Sung, who cherished the love for the people at the highest level, is recorded with a story of love which is told by Phungchon fruit-processing factory in Kwail County, a fruition of his tireless efforts to build a modern fruit processing base to supply people with more fresh and nutritious fruit products all year round.

On January 23rd, Juche 54 (1965), he visited Kwail County and looked round hundreds of hectares of orchards, rejoicing over the fact that fruit trees were in their youth.

That day he personally arranged a conference meeting of Party and economic officials of Fruit Farming Complex in Kwail County. He said sincerely that fertilizing and tending should be done in proper way as well as fruit processing technology should be developed further to produce more tasty fruit products so that the capacity of fruit production increase upto 100,000tons after ten years. He added that fruit processing facilities and apple storehouses should be built in advance so as to produce and supply tasty fruit products to the people on a regular basis.

Even after visiting Kwail County, he called management officials of the farm to discuss the solutions to fruit processing and personally took measures to settle down the issues of labor force, materials and equipment for building the fruit-processing factory in a large scale.

On May 15th, Juche 56 (1967), when he learned some problems in building the fruit-processing factory, President Kim Il Sung visited Kwail County again to arrange a conference meeting with management officials of the farm and solved knotty problems one by one. When he returned to Pyongyang, he convened a conference meeting of the Cabinet in person.

At the conference meeting of the Cabinet, he gave detailed instructions on who to be in charge of factory design, building operation and custom-built equipment and took measures to draw up the construction plan for the fruit-processing factory.

Under his deep love and personal care, officials and workers of the plant finished the building of a fruit-processing factory with an annual production capacity of 10 000 tons in less than a year and started producing canned fruit.

When he received the first fruit products produced by the newly-commissioned factory on his field guidance, he was very pleased to let the accompanying officials taste and told them that it would be fairly good to supply those fruit products to passengers on their pleasant journeys. He said that the facilities for storing and processing fruit should be built everywhere with orchards.

Later, at the Fifth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea held in early November Juche 59 (1970), he personally proposed building a large-scale fruit-processing factory with an annual capacity of 50 000~60 000 tons of fruit products in Kwail County.

The capacity of a fruit-processing factory he proposed to build, was several times larger than that of the existing fruit-processing factory.

Despite the fact of numerous factories to be built during the period of the new long-term plan, he set forth the idea of building a large-scale fruit-processing factory to provide the people with tasty fruit products in abundance.

On May 3, Juche 60 (1971), he visited Kwail County again to arrange another conference meeting of Party and economic officials of Kwail County. At the meeting he clarified solutions to all problems arising in construction and operation, like comprising a large-scale fruit-processing factory with the existing one to process more fruit, building a glass bottle factory in parallel with the fruit-processing factory and training technicians in fruit processing. In addition to this, he saw to it that excellent builders from all the construction enterprises across the country to be involved in the building of a modern fruit-processing factory and let the officials in charge give onsite guidance.

Later, too, he arranged several times of conference meetings, though he was busy taking care of the overall affairs of the country, and frequently gave phone calls to senior officials of the provincial party committee and the relevant sectors to learn about the situation in the construction and solved all problems to the end.

Indeed, he devoted his all to the construction of a modern fruit-processing factory, giving 4 times of field guidance and more than 50 times of precious instructions from the beginning of the fruit-processing factory building to time when fruit products were in line production.

Under the constant loving care and guidance of President Kim Il Sung, the officials and working people struggled to build up a modern fruit-processing factory on a vast area and put fruit processing in line production to the end.

After being told that the fruit-processing factory went into line production, President Kim Il Sung was delighted to visit Kwail County again on September 25th, Juche 65 (1976) to give a field guidance to the newly-built fruit-processing factory.

Looking round the factory with a bright smile on his face, he said that he was pleased to see the factory running well. He earnestly requested those in factory to increase the indices of fruit products and improve the quality so as to supply more tasty and nutritious fruit products to the people.

Indeed, the fruit processing plant in Kwail County stretching for 100 ri and the fruit-processing factory with modern equipment are a fruition of the paternal love and dedication of the President who devoted his all to providing the people with a plentiful supply of tasty processed fruit in and out of season.

The modern fruit processing plant built in Kwail County will remain a fruit processing base along with the story of his love and devotion to the people forever.
