Saying that Self–Reliance is Best

Chairman Kim Jong Il, who held invariably to the principle of self-reliance in the economic construction, led wisely factories and enterprises to modernize equipment in our own way relying on our strength and technology even in the final period of his life.

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

"Our strength is best and self-reliance is best. Holding higher the slogan ‘Self-reliance is the only way to survive!' we should light the flames of the great upsurge in the spirit of self-reliance and open the gates to a powerful country with our own hands."

On the road of revolutionary leadership of Chairman Kim Jong Il, who continued the forced march of on-the-spot guidance even in cold winter, even in the hottest period of summer, there is a touching anecdote that he led personally a plant in Tanchon City to launch the energetic struggle to realize modernization of equipment in our own way upholding the banner of self-reliance.

On the 2nd of December Juche 99(2010), Chairman Kim Jong Il made the third visit of inspection to a machine plant which is associated with the exploits of the leadership of the fatherly leader.

A year ago he visited the plant the second time and assigned a task to modernize the equipment and production buildings of the plant in conformity with a new century demand. Upholding the programmatic task the plant reconstructed the production buildings along up-to-date line, applied CNC to the several large-sized machines and equipment as well as turning lathes and produced vigorously various kinds of equipment and accessories as they wished.

Chairman Kim Jong Il was satisfied very much to hear the report from the officials of the plant and went round to see the machines and facilities equipped with CNC in the large-sized processing shop.

Having appreciated highly the modernization of the plant, he told them to pose for a photograph in front of the turning lathe beyond their expectations and called them to the glorious place.

The officials felt a strong emotion in their hearts. Whenever he visited the plant he taught them the self-reliance based on modern science and technologyㅡ this is the self-reliance of the present time and brought them up as vanguards of self-reliance. That day he gave them all the glory.

The day Chairman Kim Jong Il went round the creations of self-reliance everywhere in the plant and expressed a big satisfaction.

He highly appreciated whatever the creation of self-reliance was, saw the modernized equipment of the plant and gave them high appreciations and praise.

That day Chairman Kim Jong Il gave them a meaningful teaching: that's why self-reliance is good and our way is the best.

His teaching is a permanent truth kept deep in the hearts not only of the plant employees but also of all the Korean people who are transfigured day by day thanks to the self-reliance.
