Then he asked how they could undertake the work of controlling the production process of basic foodstuffs with computers, and he said that it should be done by the University of Light Industry originally.

An official told him the names of colleges in the province and asked him about his intention of setting up a faculty of light industry at Chongjin University of Mining and Metallurgy as they were short of technicians in the light industry sector.

After a while, Chairman Kim Jong Il said that it was a university for training technicians in the mining and metallurgical industries, not for training technicians in the light industry sector, but as it was difficult to organize a college of light industry, gave valuable institutions to institute a new model faculty that trained technicians in the light industry.

As a result, the faculty of light industry was founded at the university which trains technicians in the mining and metallurgical industries. Later, in Chongjin a new university which trains experts in the light industry has founded with this faculty as the parent body.

The Faculty of Light Industry has been existed at Chongjin University of Mining and Metallurgy!

This was the result of the measure that could be taken only by Chairman Kim Jong Il who regarded it as the supreme principle of the activities of the WPK to improve the people's living standard and had the noble ideal of making our people the happiest and most civilized people in the world.
