A Green Manure Dish Tasted Personally on a Foreign Visit

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

"Out of his boundless love for the people, Comrade Kim Il Sung worked with painstaking efforts to ensure that they were well-off and had no need to envy anyone in the world, and he laid solid foundations for them to lead an affluent and cultured life."

The devoted efforts of President Kim Il Sung who devoted his all to making the Korean people well-off with nothing to envy in the world are associated not only with all parts of the country but also with his long foreign tour.

President Kim Il Sung visited Hubei Province of China on his way to visit Vietnam in November Juche47(1958).

Premier Zhou Enlai, who had been accompanying him from Beijing to Wuhan City in honor of President Kim Il Sung, told him that the secretary of Hubei Province had been corps commander of the Volunteer Army during the Korean War, and that he was always praised whenever the Central Committee met on farming issues, saying that he was good at rice farming.

At the airport, the President met the secretary of that province for reception.

On the way to where the President stay accompanying with the secretary of the province by car, he asked about the secret of raising good crops.

He explained the secret in two ways: the first secret was the rice seed given by Kim Il Sung when he came back to his homeland leaving from the DPRK and the second secret was the planting of green manure crops, saying that green manure crops are very good for eating and increasing fertility, and that they planted green manure crops and made double crops to produce six tons to seven tons of grain per hectare a year.

While listening to him with interesting, looked for a while at the green green manure crop of the plain, which he pointed to, and asked the secretary of the province to cook it for a meal today.

He was confused soon. He said about his worry of being blamed by Prime Minister Zhou Enlai if having this kind of dish for the President's dinner.

But the President said with a pleasant smile that he was ok because it was just for the people reassuring him and Prime Minister Zhou Enlai.

Thus, the dish made of green manure crop was cooked for lunch and President, while eating it, tasted it and appreciated it as very delicious.

President said that this green manure crop is an interesting crop to be widely introduced and that such crop is necessary in our country, and asked the secretary to visit Vietnam and ask for a green manure crop.

In fact, green manure crops have often been cultivated as fertilizing land plants as a substitute for fertilizers, and in addition, they are not widely used as dishes.

But as he was the great leader who had to pluck stars from the sky if he could make our people the best in the world and regarded any hardships as a pleasure, he paid great attention to the green manure crops which were not being used by ordinary people as dishes, invited them to cook green manure crops out of diplomatic customs on foreign tours, and personally tasted them, and planned to spread them all over the country.

That's why the secretary admired President's interest in the green manure crop, which no one had ever looked at, and Prime Minister Zhou Enlai and President Kim Il Sung praised him as the leader of the people as he thought of the farming of the country on his foreign visit.

The President dropped in to China to take the green manure crop on the way of homeland after his visit to Vietnam, remembering his promise with the secretary of the province. He let the green manure crop grow in our country.

There are many leaders and mythical men in the history of politics left by mankind who assert that they have pursued politics for the people, but they do not know the peerless patriot and the benevolent father of the people who cherished the happiness of the people as the President and devoted his whole life in the country and even in the foreign country for visit.
