President Kim Il Sung Always Cares about the People More than Himself

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"Even though he was held in high respect and admiration by our people and progressive people around the world, Comrade Kim Il Sung rejected any special favour or privilege for himself, and always led a simple and frugal life with his people."

The great leader of the Koreans, President Kim Il Sung, did not allow any preferential treatment or privilege for himself all his life and was always concerned about the people's life more than himself. And he taught the officials that they should do anything to help people's living, even a little.

This happened one day in summer 1981 when President visited an institution.

Saying that it had been ages since the last visit, President Kim Il Sung warmly asked the head of the institution if he had been well during that time. He then kindly patted him on the back and said that he had heard that he was doing well at work and asked him about his work one by one.

The official led President to a resting place with great emotion and excitement, in hopes of making him pleased.

It was a simple resting place that was newly built reflecting the earnest desire of them for the health of the President who was making ceaseless on-site guidance so that he could relieve his fatigue even for a moment whenever he visited the institution.

After looking around the resting place, President said that their sincere efforts were thankful, but he wasn't happy about it. President said that he just wanted a quiet room where he could sit and read the documents, and that it was no necessary to waste such a lot of materials for his room, and he reproached the official for the fact that those materials could have been used to do something helpful for the life of our people.

Looking at the artificial waterfall built in the open air, President asked how much electricity they would use to pump water and told him to go and switch it off at once, saying that it was not good to waste electricity for such a reason under the situation in which the country had lack of electricity, and the electricity could be used in such a way as to weave one more meter of cloth necessary for the people's livelihood.

Then he earnestly said that he would rest when all the Koreans were well-off, and that no one should regard themselves as a special being or want privilege in the future, and that officials should always pay attention to the people's livelihood wherever they were.

President regarded such a small simple resting place as something of privilege and told the officials to care about the people's living first, even though he understood that the officials built them because they wanted him to relieve his fatigue due to his energetic leadership on the road for our people.

Indeed, President Kim Il Sung was the benevolent father of the Koreans who cared about the people more than himself and devoted his all to providing them with a more affluent and civilized life.
