The people-first principle is the political ideology which requires the officials to rely on the people viewing them as the masters of revolution and construction and make selfless, devoted efforts for them.
The DPRK regards the people-first principle as its political ideology and mode of existence. The reason why people-first principle serves as the political climate and national custom of the DPRK, first of all, lies in that it is the political ideology reflecting the essential characteristics of the DPRK most accurately.
The political climate and national custom of a state, which are the basis for realizing the politics of a state and customs of a country formed and descended over a long time, are defined by the essential characteristics of a state.
A state is the most comprehensive political organization that serves the interests of the class and social group that holds the position of master in society.
In socialist society, the masters of state power and administration are none other than the popular masses.
The mission and duty of the DPRK, where the popular masses are the genuine masters of the state and society, is to serve the popular masses.
The DPRK serves the popular masses by fulfilling its duty as a representative of the people's right to independence, organizer of creative ability and activities, householder responsible for the people's livelihood and protector of the people's interests.
From its mission and duty as servants of the people, the DPRK should make it its own political climate and national custom to regard the popular masses as the masters of the revolution and construction, rely on them and make selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the people.
The essential characteristic of the DPRK is that it is the political weapon serving the popular masses and it is one of the reasons why the people-first principle serves as the political climate and national climate of the DPRK.
Another reason why the people-first principle serves as the political climate and national custom of the DPRK lies in that it is the political ideology that makes it possible to firmly guarantee the development of the DPRK.
The scientific accuracy and vitality of a political climate and national custom of a state are proved and further consolidated in the struggle for the development of the state.
The political ideology which contributes substantially to the solidity, invincibility and prosperity of a state can become the political climate and national custom of the state and will be further consolidated.
The political ideology which makes it possible to firmly guarantee and stimulate the development of the DPRK is the people-first principle.
The development of the DPRK, where the popular masses are the genuine masters of everything, is achieved by none others than the popular masses.
The people are the roots and foundations of a socialist state and are responsible for its development.
When the people-first principle is thoroughly applied, it is possible to achieve the firm foundation of a socialist state and give fullest play to the advantages and might of the socialist state by redoubling the driving force of the revolution.
Only when all the activities of the Party and government organs are thoroughly directed and subordinated to defending and realizing the people's demands and interests and faithfully serving them, can the people absolutely support and trust the Party and state and unite close around them to consolidate the political foundation of the socialist state most firmly.
Moreover, if the people-first principle is thoroughly applied in state activities, socialism will root deep into the life and soul of the masses, and the people will devote their blood and sweat without reluctance to defending and bringing into bloom the socialist paradise, the cradle of life and home of happiness.
Adhering the viewpoint and stand of attaching importance to the people in state activities is an important issue since the practices that encroach on the people's interests such abuse of authority and bureaucracy can be manifested among the officials during the course of socialist construction.
The privileged act of reigning over the people and abusing the right conferred by the people can tarnish the image and popular character of socialism and undermine the people's support and trust in the Party and the state, thus endangering the existence of the socialist system itself.
The political foundations of the DPRK have been consolidated so firmly and the socio-political stability has been ensured no matter what difficulties and trials may stand in the way, and the building of a powerful socialist country is being accelerated vigorously thanks to the high revolutionary enthusiasm and creativity of all the people. This is attributable to the thoroughgoing application of the people-first principle in state activities.
The Party and state make selfless, devoted efforts for people, and the people entrust their destiny and future entirely on the Party and the state and support them with sincerity. Herein lies the true picture of the DPRK which embodies the people-first principle.
This proves that the people-first principle is a scientific political ideology that firmly guarantees the development of the socialist state, and this is another reason why the people-first principle serves as the political climate and national custom of the DPRK.
There are many countries in the world, but there is no such genuine people's country as the DPRK which regards the people-first principle as the political climate and national custom of the state.

The slogan "Everything for the people and everything by relying on them!" reflects the people-first stand of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the DPRK.
The Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK Government have given top priority to and absolutized anything popular in the whole state and social life and have devoted their all to the promotion of the people's well-being.
Recently, the DPRK has successfully completed the construction of Songhwa Street and Pothonggang Riverside Terrace Houses and is pushing forward with new large-scale construction projects, not because the country has enough funds to spare but to provide the people with a happier and more civilized life.
In particular, the Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK Government have declared a war against the abuse of authority, bureaucracy and irregularities and corruption which violate the interests of the people and have waged a determined struggle against them regarding it as a fatal issue which decides the rise and fall of a state.
In the struggle to apply the people-first principle throughout the activities of the Party, the state and social life, the Party, the state and the people have formed a community sharing the same destiny and the DPRK could dynamically advance along the orbit of its development without vacillation despite unprecedented trials and difficulties.
The DPRK will shine more brightly as a great people's country as it is dynamically advancing to bring about earlier the bright future of socialism that is the ideal of the people regarding the people-first principle as the political climate and national custom of the state and further consolidating it.
