With the boundless reverence and pure loyalty to the great man with few parallels that we first met in the 5000-year history, our people presented heartfelt gifts to the President
Since the people in Chilgol presented a brass bowl to the President on his birthday, in April 15, Juche2(1913) with warm heart to hold the President who was born in the low-raftered cottage in Mangyongdae as a great man leading the country and the nation, the number of gifts presented him by the Korean people count up to over six hundred and sixty thousand.
These precious gifts are the supreme essence of the ardent admiration and devotion of the nation to the heaven-sent legendary great man, the great sage of the 20th century.
The respected Comrade
"That we have held up President
The first gift presented by the Korean people to the President is a brass bowl made by the Chilgol people on the occasion of his first birthday.
It was April 15, Juche1(1912)
At dawn of the day there was a shower of lightning and thunder in the sky of Mangyongdae.
Then the sky washed a wonderful blue and the sun shone brilliantly.
Soon after this, the news that President
There are mysterious stories that Kim Po Hyon, his Grandfather, saw a gem of a boy sitting in the golden cushion in his dream and, Kang Don Uk, the grandfather of his mother's side saw in his dream that the Chilgol house and the sky were linked by rainbow and a dragon rose to the sky from the house in the brilliant sunshine after the rain stopped while the people clapped their hands looking at the wonderful scene.
There is also a story that on the day of President's birth, cranes flew and sat on the roof of the Chilgol house.
The President's birth was pleasure and pride of the people in Mangyongdae and Chilgol.
Together with the people in Mangyongdae and Chilgol who were pleased at the President's birth, Kang Pyong Po and his wife from Chilgol also considered a lot about how they can keep their sincerity to Mother Kang Pan Sok and her son so long.
There was a heartfelt story about why they considered such a lot.
Generous Mother Kang Pan Sok helped the villagers who were suffering from poverty and hard work a lot from her childhood.
It was spring when Mother Kang Pan Sok was 10 years old and her neighbour, Kang Pyong Po was often ill and his wife gave birth to children born in two successive years, so there was no one to work on the field even in the busy season.
Mother Kang Pan Sok who sympathized their situation baby-sat their baby, nursed him and set up their housekeeping the whole summer and autumn.
Without the burden of taking care of the baby, they raised good crops. So Kang Pyong Pho and his wife sent them some mal of hulled millet.
Mother Kang Pan Sok who knew their condition well refused it.
Thus Mother Kang Pan Sok gave the villagers who were suffering from poverty and hard work warm love and pleasure with generous heart from the young.
Kang Pyong Pho and his wife who were always thinking about Mother Kang Pan Sok's generosity thought they have to present something memorable on the occasion of the President's first birthday.
But they could not think of what to present. So they discussed with the villagers all night.
The villagers who wanted to celebrate the President's first birthday auspiciously each expressed their ideas.
Some literate old people said they could prepare good school things like books and pencils because her son was going to be famous for his knowledge, and young people said he was sure to be a general commanding millions of soldiers, so they have to prepare a sword.
There were all kinds of opinions like presenting five grains, a rainbow-striped garment made of silk and a folding screen with meaningful letters and pictures.
One of them was that they have to wish him a good health for the future of the country.
Everybody shouted for joy. At the end of discussion they concluded to present a brass bowl.
There was an opinion attached to it. It was that they mustn't buy it.
They wanted to make one especially for the President. So after bringing together all opinions they decided to draw a design and order it to Ansong Brassware Shop, the most famous one in the country at that time.
With hard efforts, they avoided the original color and made it have the tinge of the sun rising in the early morning.
In the middle of the top which symbolized the sun, they carved "Happy Birthday" and on the both sides of the top, they carved a bamboo and pine tree and depicted two chrysanthemums and a dancing butterfly.
In "Happy Birthday", they implied their sincere congratulations on the birth of the great man and their sincere wish for his long life in good health in the pine tree and bamboo which symbolizes firm determination and longevity. And in the flowers and dancing butterflies which symbolize harmony and happiness they implied their earnest yearning for the country to thrive and the people's happy life.
Thus the brass bowl with utmost sincerity and deep meaning was neatly put on the President's first birthday feast's table.
There are many famous people in the world but no one ever received such a precious gift from the people like our President on their first birthday.
Today the brass bowl, the first gift for the President from our people is handed down from generation to generation as the first present with people's wish, the first present praising the sun.
