DPRK Winning Victory after Victory by Dint of Self-reliance

The Korean people are waging a dynamic struggle for the overall development of socialism, firmly holding fast to self-reliance as their lifeline under the wise leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

All the victories they won in the past decades of severe trials unprecedented in history are the precious fruition of self-reliance.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"We should bring about a revolutionary upsurge on all fronts of socialist construction by regarding self-reliance as a treasured sword for prosperity, a spirit which has always been a banner of struggle and driving force for a leap forward in the whole course of the Korean revolution."

Self-reliance is not a tactical countermeasure to meet the requirements of the change of situation or to overcome the difficulties lying on the way of advance, but an immutable political line that the WPK confirms and consistently maintains as the fundamental direction and mode of development of socialist construction.

In the DPRK, self-reliance is, above all, the ever-unchangeable revolutionary mode to firmly defend the independent dignity of the state and people.

There is nothing more precious than independent dignity for the state and people, which can be defended and glorified only by their own strength. If they have not their own, they will naturally hang on other's smiles just like the slave in debt, and end up experiencing bitter national humiliation and disgrace. Only those who have the spirit to firmly defend their independent dignity and create socialism by relying on their own strength, wisdom and technology can firmly establish their faith in socialism and devote themselves to defending it.

What to take between self-reliance and dependence on foreign forces is a fatal matter to choose one between life and death, a serious political question of defending or failing to defend socialism before it is simply a mode of life.

The past decade has been a period when the truth that self-reliance is the only way out for the Korean people has been more clearly proved. They have made lots of admirable successes overcoming difficulties against the enemy by their own efforts even though they are faced with severe trials, not opting for dependence on outsiders to have a spoon of rice more.

They built the strongest national defense capability and laid the solid foundation of the self-supporting economy in the face of constant challenges, threats and blockade, and built the homes of happiness like mushrooms after rain and monumental edifices representing the times in disaster-hit areas, which is the precious fruition achieved by the Korean people who made dynamitic efforts to firmly defend their independent dignity.

Next, self-reliance serves as the driving force for the building of a socialist strong nation.

The motive force of building a socialist power is none other than the spiritual strength of the Korean people.

The building of a powerful socialist country in the DPRK has entered a crucial period demanding a new rise in the phase of overall development and an extraordinary rate of growth. The crucial tasks for building a powerful socialist country, including the transition of the national economy to overall development, the change of the structure of agricultural production and the establishment of a new cultural lifestyle, can be successfully carried out only by the mental strength of the Korean people.

It is now being fully displayed in all fields of the country.

The whole phase of the overall development of socialist construction, in which all the fields of the economy and culture, in addition to national defense, are simultaneously developing and not only capital but also local areas are changing together, is a clear indication of how high the mental strength of the Korean people has reached.

The Korean people bear in mind that self-reliance, which has always served as the banner of struggle and the driving force of leap forward through the world-startling appearance of the country, is the most valuable asset of Juche Korea that enables it to develop rapidly.

As there is the strong foundation of the self-supporting economy firmly consolidated under the wise leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un and self-reliance and self-sufficiency are our mode of struggle and life and the mental strength of Korean people is the driving force of self-reliance, the DPRK will grow stronger by relying on the might of self-reliance with each passing day and the dreams and ideals of the Korean people will surely come true.
