The respected Comrade
"
President
It happened in Juche 47(1958).
In that year our officials built uncle's house of the President in Mangyongdae.
Across the country, every countryside all straw-thatched houses had been replaced by new modern dwelling houses, but the members of the uncle's family, who were living with old grandmother Ri Po Ik, were still in the old cottage house.
So the officials have built a new three-chamber house with a half-celled room at the site, a little far from the original site. At that time the modest members of uncle's family persistently refused that exceptional measure, but the officials thought it was quite natural to build the house.
However, the President came out in Mangyongdae some days after the house-moving.
When he saw the newly built house, the President called the officials immediately and asked them strictly who allowed such a house to be built.
Officials couldn't answer for a while, and said honestly that they had moved the house.
And the President said that the old house was not uncomfortable and that wasting materials and labor force was not proper when people's housing problems were still tense.
The speech of the President touching the officials echoed with unprecedented seriousness.
The President said that the property of the country and the people should not be wasted in the personal affairs of any individual and that it could not be exceptional to his family, adding that doing so was not beneficial to him.
Then he asked to pull down the house and use the building materials for other purposes.
In the face of the noble traits of the President, who always took care of the workers and peasants, but never allow any special favor to his family members who suffered the greatest trials and sorrowful misfortunes with the years of stern history of the Korean revolution, the officials could not help being deeply moved.
The mind for self-care on his relatives is a common human feeling for anyone. The same holds true for President
In the days of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle, our leader was more heartbroken and painful than anyone, thinking of the misfortune and pain suffered by his family members.
But the President showed a noble example of a frugal and passionate life, never tolerating the privileges for his family relatives.
