Building up the History Museum better and intensifying mass education using the museum is of great significance in making the people have a correct understanding of the time-honoured history and brilliant culture of our country and equipping them with the spirit of patriotism.
Although the President was busy accomplishing the historic cause of building a new country after the liberation, he initiated the founding of the History Museum which is a base to equip the people with patriotism, and energetically led the preparatory committee for the founding of the museum to carry out the work properly.
Thus, the Central History Museum of Korea (then the Pyongyang Municipal Museum) was founded on December 1, 1945, which was only about 100 days after the country's liberation.

Looking round the museum, the President praised the officials of the museum for having unearthed and collected many historical relics and materials and displayed them in a short period after the liberation, so that they could vividly show the people the long history of our country.
The President said that the museum should be built up better in the future as a place for mass education showing the national culture of our country and the patriotic history of our people. He also said that the museum should make the people clearly know that the Korean are resourceful people who have created and developed proud history and culture with their own labour and wisdom and that they are patriotic people who have bravely fought against foreign aggressors once they visit the museum. By doing so, our people can possess high national pride, self-confidence and noble patriotism. And he gave detailed instructions on the issues arising in glorifying precious treasures associated with the soul and wisdom of the Korean nation such as the issue on thorough adherence to the principle of historicism in excavating the historical relics and the issue of preserving and managing them.
The on-site guidance of the President served as an occasion to develop the Central History Museum into the base to implant national pride, self-esteem and patriotism in the heart of the people, and the academic research unit that systematically excavate, collect and ascertain the historical relics and the reliable base to preserve the national cultural heritage.
Upholding the invaluable guidance of the President, the officials of the museum have conducted a vigorous work to excavate, collect and display historical relics, thus the Korean Central History Museum has been built into a reliable base for collecting and preserving cultural assets with a large number of national treasures in a short period after the liberation, making an active contribution to the educate the people with patriotism.
The Korean Central History Museum has become, not only a place where the historical relics and materials are stored and displayed, but also a base to educate people with patriotism by showing the brilliant history of creation and struggle of the Korean people and implanting the traditions of patriotism, national pride and self-esteem in the heart of the people, thanks to the scrupulous and warm care of the President who initiated the founding of the History Museum with priority and clarified the way for the museum to successfully carry out its mission and duty although he was very busy constructing a new country after the liberation.
