There are many Korean-style buildings with the crane-shaped roof in Pyongyang. Among them, the Pyongyang Old People's Home can be said a model of the national architecture which covers the fragrance of the Korean nation.

Even on the January 15th of lunar calendar in 2015, the folk holiday which the people across the country were enjoying, the respected Comrade
When seeing the respected General Secretary who visited even the construction site of the Pyongyang Old People's Home just one and a half months after the start of construction although he personally initiated its construction and provided meticulous guidance on all things ranging from designing to supply of materials, the officials were deeply moved to feel his great efforts.
However, the officials and designers did not fully understand why he visited the construction site.
On arrival at the construction site, the respected General Secretary told the officials and designers about his thoughts which he had already had when seeing the formation plans of the old people's home.
Saying that the interior was arranged to be decorated with large tiles and glass according to its formation plan and it would be nearly the same as the hotel and the institutional building, he pointed out that the Korean national identity should be preserved in all the elements of the building such as the style, colour and pattern of exterior and interior without doing that. And he stressed once again that it was important to keep the national colour and pattern in preserving the national characteristics so that the Pyongyang Old People's Home could be built as a model of the national architecture with a strong flavour of the Korean nation.
Only then did the officials realize the intention of the respected General Secretary to visit the construction site.
Thanks to the direct and wise leadership of the respected General Secretary, the Pyongyang Old People's Home has been built wonderfully as the magnificent edifice in line with the party's intention to sustain the Juche character and national identity in construction and develop the style of national architecture.
