The Revolutionary Traditions are the Traditions of the Leader

Chairman Kim Jong Il said:

"The traditions of the revolutionary struggle of the working class connote a wealth linking the historical origins of the revolutionary struggle with the lifeline of the revolution. The revolutionary traditions the working class should inherit are established by their leader who blazed the trail of revolution and are developed and enriched in the course of a struggle that advances under his guidance."

Revolutionary traditions are an invaluable revolutionary wealth provided by the leader who blazed the trail of revolution.

The Chairman once gave precious instructions in his talks with the officials that the revolutionary traditions can only be created by the leader of the working class and, therefore, the revolutionary traditions of its Party are those of the leader.

The independence cause of the masses of the people, the socialist cause, is an unprecedentedly arduous, complicated, and long-term one that continues from generation to generation in history.

In order to accomplish the cause of independence of the masses of the people, which has the tenacious and long-term character, the lifeline of the socialist cause must be carried forward purely until the final victory is achieved. To make sure that the cause of independence of the masses, the cause of socialism consistently advance and carry out its lifeline, definite orientation and fundamental principles and ways of the revolutionary struggle must be built up, their practical experience accumulated, and the methodology of revolution established to achieve the final goal. Only then can the cause of socialism be advanced to maintain its lifeline and achieve its final goal, even though the generations may change and various stages of revolution be carried out.

Such wealth, which provides its lifeline for the whole course of the revolutionary struggle to accomplish the socialist cause that continues through generations, is the revolutionary tradition. It is only provided by the leader of the masses in the course of the victorious advance of the revolutionary struggle.

The leader plays a decisive role in the development of history and in the revolutionary struggle of the working class. The leader leads the revolutionary struggle to victory by creating a great guiding idea for carving out the cause of independence of the masses and forming the vanguard organization of the revolution, making the masses the independent motive force of the revolution and enhancing its role. In this process, the leader creates revolutionary ideological system, exploits, experiences, methods and style, thus establishing the revolutionary traditions.

Therefore, the revolutionary tradition of the working-class party is that of the leader, the wealth created by the leader.

The revolutionary traditions of our Party were provided by President Kim Il Sung in the flames of the arduous anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle.

In retrospect, the Korean people did not only lament over the fate of the falling country in the days before and after the Japanese imperialists' occupation of Korea.

The patriots with ambitions and the angry people rose up in a vigorous struggle of the anti-Japanese national salvation with a grim determination not to survive as slaves even if they would rather die in a fight.

They waged volunteers' struggle with spears and swords, and turned out in the Independence Army movement with hackbuts in their hands. The workers and peasants staged strikes and disputes, and all the fellow countrymen sang hurrah for independence, standing in the streets and villages.

However, these ceaseless struggles were all intentionally suppressed by the harsh repression of the Japanese imperialists. The spirits of the Korean people for anti-Japanese struggle seemed to rise high in the sky, but they could not advance along the road of victory with correct guiding idea, strategy and tactics for independence and social emancipation of the country as they were not under the leadership of a prominent leader. Therefore, no tradition of struggle could be established. The early communist movement in our country was no exception as well.

The revolutionary traditions of our Party could be achieved only by creating the Juche-oriented ideological system, revolutionary exploits and fighting experience, revolutionary work methods and popular style of work in the course of President Kim Il Sung pioneering the road of revolution and leading the long and arduous anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle to brilliant victory.

Since the beginning of the revolutionary movement of the working class by Marx and Engels, the world revolutionary movement lasting for more than a century has witnessed many valuable and precious revolutionary traditions that can be a legacy in the revolutionary struggle of the working class.

However, no tradition can be found in history as perfect and great as the revolutionary tradition of Juche founded by President Kim Il Sung.

As the President and the great anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle led by him were great, the revolutionary traditions of Juche founded by him are shining as the most powerful ideological and mental wealth, and the great revolutionary traditions that propel the Korean revolution and the development of the world revolution.
