Visiting Fort on Mt. Suyang

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said:

"Comrade Kim Il Sung advanced the policy of inheriting and developing our national heritage from a Juche-based stand, and ensured that many cultural relics which had been buried in history were unearthed and verified, and that historical sites destroyed by foreign aggressors were restored to their original state; he thus saw to it that the cultural heritage created by our ancestors was passed down to the people, as well as to the coming generations, as the assets of the nation."

The immortal leadership exploits of the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung for glorifying the cultural heritage created by ancestors as treasure of the nation are also cherished in Fort on Mt. Suyang.

The great leader visited the fort on Mt. Suyang in Hakhyon dong, Haeju, South Hwanghae Province in August, 1948.

First built in the period of Koguryo it was originally called Fort on Mt. Jisong and was regarded as one of 3 famous forts on the mountain of Hwanghae Province.

He climbed to the highest of fort on Mt. Suyang through high and rugged mountains even in the hot weather of midsummer and caught the view of Mt. Suyang.

The vast Plain Yonbaek, the blue waves of the West Sea, and every valley covered with pine trees and various flowers blooming between the cliffs of fantastic rocks.

Moreover, the Suyangsan Falls is pouring out a gemlike spray of water through steep cliff and the splendid sound echoed the deep valleys.

Looking at the landscape of the mountain for a while, he said to an official of Haeju City that it would be very good to build it up as a resting place for the working people as it has a beautiful landscape and a wide open space.

The officials were deeply impressed by the noble love of the great leader for the people who thought of the people first seeing the beautiful scenery of Mt. Suyang rather than his efforts.

He said to officials that the visitors should be told about the brave struggle of our ancestors against foreign enemies and that they should rest while watching the waterfalls and other natural scenery.

Watching the south gate and fort built on rugged rock, he said to the officials that we should use various tactics and make good use of the terrain and features to win victory in the battle and told them about the battle on Mt. Suyang during the Imjin Patriotic War.

Under the wise guidance of the peerlessly great men, the mountainous fort has been successfully built into a cultural recreation ground for the people and a base for patriotic education, thus conveying the immortal leadership exploits of the great leader down through generations.
